His trajectory as a Juventus player was real strange. Bought in to be the experienced bomber alongside Dybala, but he lost his scoring boots somewhere along the way, so he didn't bang as many goals as expected and we went shopping for Higgy. Around Christmas 2016 Mario was on the verge of becoming deadweight, but after the winter break Max completely reinvented him and Mario gave us his best half season that extended his career with Juve for 2 more years. I wonder how many other failing players we have in the squad that just need a new perspective.

When he come we were playing 3-5-2 and had a great partnership with Dybala
Then we got Higuain and he got moved on the flanks in Allegri 4-2-3-1

Mandzukic worked well as a box presence to allow Dybala more space around the box, keeping the CBs busy, but he wasn't contributing top CF numbers, I wouldn't call that a great partnership since they shared 29 goals between them in Serie A in 15/16, Higuain alone had 36. Without Max putting him on the wing and the whole team figuring shit out in 2nd half of 2016/17, I believe Mandzukic would've been sold summer 2017 for peanuts.

He was never a bomber as you say, he played for Bayerns machine and didn't score tons of goals either. But those other qualities have kept him on the pitch over true bombers like Gomez (who scored insane numbers the season before Mandzu arrived, and even the season he was benched by Mandzu, scored many goals in limited time).

Mandzukic gives up his March salary for charity

Milan forward Mario Mandzukic has given up his March salary due to the injury absence and President Paolo Scaroni gives the money to charity.
ANSA reports the Croatian striker has decided to give up his salary for last month, as he wasn’t able to help out the Rossoneri in their battle for a place in the Champions League.
“An exceptional gesture,” Milan President Paolo Scaroni said, according to the news agency.

“It demonstrates Mario Mandzukic’s ethics and professionalism and his respect for Milan.
“The club will thus have the opportunity to further support the Milan Foundation for projects in favour of young people in conditions of economic and educational fragility, where sports is a tool for social inclusion."
The former Juventus attacker arrived on a free transfer in January and played four games with Milan until he suffered a muscular problem.
He was back on the bench in the 3-1 win over Parma last time, but has missed seven out of 12 possible League games since his return to Serie A.

That is exceptional.

What's even more exceptional is that Milan is actually able to pay the players' salaries. Unlike us :lol3:

He lost his scoring boots? :howler: He never had any. Once again, poor man's Simone Inzaghi.
