Ok.You are right.
When I wrote "defend" I meant dinosaur 80's italian style where CF is praised for defending around his teams penalty box.
Thats just ridiculous old washed up style which is one of the main culprits why Juventus did not win in CL.
"Vomit football." Where Juve is defending an 1:0 lead at home against Chievo.
Just thinking about it as I write this post the number of cancer cells are growing in my body. Its ugly and cancer promoting at the same time.

we must stop buying old guys.
It's always a problem to resell them.
Matuidi,Khedira,Mandzukic,Higuain all coming back to us.

23-25 max
Its not buying old guys thats the problem, its recognizing the moment to let them go, before they become a burden. All 4 you mentioned played an important role here and all are not in the same basket either. For example, Mandzukic still is an asset in terms of yearly cost/contribution on the pitch. Keeping him as backup to Dybala/icardi is far from the worst decision we could make (getting 15M isnt bad business either). Same cant be said for Higgy whos yearly cost greatly outweights his current level of play, and he should be the 1st one out. Sami costs close to nothing, but is also far from his heyday form, and age and injuries are catching up with him. We desperately needed another starting caliber mid last summer, and Sami should have been the one to make way for him - instead, we extended his contract creating the current situaiton. Matuidi is not that expensive either (far cheaper than Higgy certainly) and hes still got some quality games left in the tank, but imo hes in the same situation Sami was last summer, if we dont sell now hes either walking for free or we extend him and he becomes a burden later.

Should the players we buy be based off of their anticipated resale value. Are we a lower midtable club now?
He’s got a good point though, if we’re getting older players for decent price (ala manzukic) then it’s fine. But paying 90 freakin millions on 28/29 year old Higuain was a terrible decision. Paying 30 mil on 30 year old Matuidi was another clear mistake.

Now we’re stuck with these 2 and we can’t sell them even for a fraction of their original price !

When we paid 40 mil for Dybala or bernardeschi even if we decide to sell, we can always recap that price or at least 30 mil in worst case scenario.

It doesn’t matter that we’re top club or mid-table one, from a financial point of view, that would be the right way to do build the team.

hello man! wake up! where have you been till now?
bar last summer we always sold 1-2 important players every summer to make our "mercato"
We rely on capital gains to stay alive and have our books on +/- 0 or slight red.

watch the big boys.
Do you see them spending huge money for those older than 27?
Either you buy an Hazard or you don't shove that kind of money.

See Kondogbia and Nainggolan in Inter scenario.
Worse to worst Kondogbia managed Inter a good fee after 2years of nothing and another 2years of loan. Bought for 36 resold for 22 still managed to make a plusvalenza.
Kondogbia is 26yrs old today.

Nainggolan?? they spent 42m players+money and now they're stuck with a player being 31years old that didn't adapt to Inter and that now they were forced to loan for free at Cagliari paying at least half of his high salary.

getting the likes of Sancez is another deadly trap.

Since we're not a team that buy good players and keep them till the end of their career if they perform we should change a go for the younger ones.
Instead of the cheap 28-29years old dude that nobody will ever want unless we release him for free

everybody knew we had to offload Higuain and he still here.
Khedira God know the reason has renewed his contract for 2 season for 6m/year and now what? give him 5-8m to end the contract we made him sign last summer?

Mandzukic is a decent asset if we sell Higuain keep Dybala nad have him as back up forward not as a winger.
Under Allegri he was always our striker even if he wasn't a score goal cause you know Allegri was afraid to bench him.

We brought in 2 mids Rabiot and Ramsey (which I hope he's gonna be fit cause ohoho 28years old high wages) and everybody knew we had to sell Matuidi (contract expiring) and Khedira (high wages).
Now nobody wanna leave and what? we waste toons of money just to pay their salary.

mid Pjanic,Rabiot,Ramsey,Bentancur,Can +Matuidi and Khedira for 3 spots.

Report: Mandzukic-Bayern is off
Football Italia

Comments
Mario Mandzukic’s proposed return to Bayern Munich from Juventus has reportedly been called off.
Mandzukic seemed to be on his way back to Bayern, with a move to Manchester United not happening and new Juve boss Maurizio Sarri preferring Gonzalo Higuain.
However, Sport Bild is now reporting the German giants have backed out as they decided not to make an offer.

In the meantime, they are closing an expensive loan deal for Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho.
It now remains to be seen whether the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid opt to renew their interest in the 33-year-old.

:sergio: we can't seem to catch a break.
