Cant remember seeing him doing anything noteworthy but he wasnt revieving much help. Id say most balls played to him were long looping diagnoal passes he coukd do nothing with and when he recieved the ball to feet he was too far from goal with no direct options so he was forced to play a simple pass. Both him and Alex Sandro were more quiet than normal.
Completely submerced himself in tireless working for the system. Staying wide to allow us to stretch Porto(which works very well). Worked very hard, and when the left side could shine, he sticked to his tactical duty to move more central allowing Sandro to make the overlap each time.
He willingly worked hard for the team and didnt appear in the spotlight. And he does it without complains, and joy cause we won.

We need to thrive to be as good as Bayern were in the 2012-13 season.
Let's also take in to consideration that none of us thought that a 4-2-3-1 would end up being the permanent formation. I think that once Pjaca gets integrated a little more, he will end up taking over for Mandzu, and then maybe he can give Higuain a break once in a while. I don't really buy this "we don't have any alternatives"

He is doing just fine out there winning balls in the air and running his ass off. the fact that he has Alex Sandro as a partner out wide to set up means we can still threaten regularly from that flank too
I would still like to see options for a quality LW this summer but he is more than good enough for now.

Why bench Pjanic ?
Obviously, mandzukic wont be benched for a player who cant put similar workrate.

Like sergio said, the beautiful thing about this formation, is that we are still discovering what we can do and what we cannot.
On paper, yes, it makes sense that to use pjaca on the wing, we would need 2 more physical players as dms, but we are theorycrafting and this formation with pjanic and pjaca could pretty much work if pjaca gets the hang of what allegri wants from him defensively.
If he learns how to do this, we could easily play pjanic behind him and see to which extend we can field offensive players.
Nothing is written in stone right now. For the time being, mandzu is working good on that wing, but it doesnt mean his game there doesnt have shortcomings. So we can still experiment even more
