This. :agree:

The guy has scored 68 goals over the last 3 years. And has 3 goals already with Juve. People are way too quick to judge a player brand new to Serie A and dealing with an injury.
Haven't even been 100% fit yet and 3 goals already. But there were some games where he should have scored, ones he usually dont miss.

Well taken goal, but he was extremely poor in the 1st half, always on the ground moaning and his first touch was letting him down. Missed a great chance in the first half, that came from pinpoint pass from Pogs. Still think he isn't a striker for the club of Juve's stature.

He wasted 2 clear chances where he should have been 1v1 with the goalkeeper. And didnt even try to catch that Atalanta player when he crossed. He didnt even run off the ball.

Yeah, surprised me there. He didn't even put in an effort to try to close him down.

I always like to see strikers score those type of goals.

Missed a couple of good chances in the first half but held it up well.

Still think Dybala - Morata is the way to go, but a good option to have.

I would think a game like today's would suit Mandzukic - us with lots of possession allowing Mario to make a nuisance of himself and get under the defenders' skin. Glad he got a goal, he did well to get there.

But he was a starting XI striker for the treble winning Bayern. He even scored in the CL final. Sorry. He might not suit our gameplay, but he is easily a top striker suited to a club of our stature. He scores a ton.

He scored today. A classic CF goal. Got position on the defender and perfectly timed his movement to connect with Dybala's pass. That's what we want out of a CF.

I still prefer Morata-Dybala as a starting pair. But this guy is an absolutely phenomenal option to have in rotation. Preferring Zaza to him is outright ridiculous.

He woke up after his goal. He became the hound I remember from Bayern, fantastic slide tackle to start a counter, and also several other instances were he closed down well.

Still looks a tad slow. Needs some more time to get completely match fit I suppose. He'll be a big player for us as the season moves along.

This. He looked a different player after his goal. He won possession back multiple times, got involved in the play. That free kick Pogba won and Dybala almost scored was entirely due to Mandzukic dispossessing an Atalanta defender out wide on the left.

That was 2 years ago. Mandzkic in the last 10 months or so hasn't been a shadow of former self. Was crap both for Atleti and my NT. Good sub option imho, but I wouldn't start this guy ahead of either Morata or Dybala. Of course he's better than Zaza, but the way he played in the 1st half made me furious and genuinely wanted Italian on the pitch instead. Deal with it.

if he can score 10-15 goals in Serie A + some crucial CL goals and do what he did today after his goal frequently, he has paid off. he has been out of form for a while but when he is on form can become a difference maker here

Crap for Atleti to the tune of 20 goals? C'mon. He wasn't great, but he was by no means crap. And he's also scored 3 goals already for us, while dealing with injury problems.

Regardless, we all agree. Morata-Dybala should be our first choice pair. But Mandzukic is a fantastic option for rotation with Morata. How many teams can say they have a forward with 20+ goals in each of the last 3 seasons coming off the bench?
