Who would have been first choice realistically speaking?

I knew someone would ask me that

Obviously I didn't know that Mandzukic was even available, so it's tough to say which players are realistic. We have a lot of draw and some money, but not one or the other of maybe 3-4 others in either category right now.

I like Mandzukic. If you look around there aren't as many solid choices, unless you go to an unrealistic level from one of the other big teams. You end up taking more of a gamble on the likes of Jackson Martinez, Bacca, Dzeko, Lukaku and the like. Mandzukic looks a better bet than those.
