You have two in house potential replacements for Vidal. One (Khedira) is locked in with his position as a midfielder. The other (Asamoah) is entirely dependent on getting another Left Back. Either one of them, or Pereyra, would be stepping in.

If Juve didn't have this kind of quality lying around after selling Vidal, then I would have lost my mind. But there is still quality there. Different characteristics than Vidal? Yes, absolutely. But we are seeing the beginning of what Allegri is looking for with the squad. More flair, less grinta. And its not as if the club is suddenly bereft of grinta because Vidal and Tevez left. Mandzukic, Lichtsteiner, Chiellini, Marchisio to a degree. It is still there.

Would I have liked to see a bidding war for Vidal? Certainly. But I find it very hard to believe that Marotta and the management would be so short sighted as to believe that no bidding war would have taken place if they placed him on the open market. There was something else at play here, and we may never know. But while it is easy to believe that Marotta didn't want to have a bidding war (for whatever reason), or that he should have made Vidal honor his contract (if that were the case, you would see far less transfers every year), then it is not far fetched to believe that Vidal and his people initiated contact with Bayern, reached agreement with them on a new contract, and then went to Juve to tell them of their intentions, and basically put Juve in a no win situation.

There were several suitors for Ogbonna. There are now several suitors for Llorente. If bidding wars are/were being done for those two, then why would one not be done for Vidal?

Unless the player and his people himself made the first move, and did all of this whilst still under contract with Juve.

People also forget that even if we had a bigger offer from say Man City, Vidal would have to agree to go there. Players are human beings, not cattle. Perhaps Vidal only wanted Bayern. They were prepared to offer 36m, which is not a bad offer at all, and we thought long and hard about it and accepted. I don't see much wrong in that to be honest..

Would I have made the same deal? Maybe not, because I believe Vidal is in his prime and I think he would be able to motivate himself to play well for us.

Because of losing Tevez and Vidal? Everyone knew that Tevez was going to leave sooner or later, and you have to respect his honesty and openness when he first joined us. To counter that, Juve moved quickly to get his successor, and to get him in early. We also knew that Tevez only had one destination in mind, and that was back home, so it was going to be difficult to get fair market value for him. We all knew this. But, we also got him at below market value as wellm, and he turned out great. So it is a win-win situation.

Vidal on the other hand, this came out of nowhere. I would have loved a bidding war, but if the reports are true that he actually agreed to a contract prior to the two teams even talking about his transfer, then it just limits everything. And it sucks. I would have loved the opportunity to get as much as possible for him, but lets not scoff at 40 million for him as if it is chump change.

If it were Juve that were preparing to pay 40 million for Vidal, this forum would have had a monumental meltdown.

But you know me. I'm not reactionary. I will wait this out until August 31st and see where this club is

I have questioned the management in the past, and will continue to have doubts and be skeptical, especially after losing 3 of our key players in the same mercato session.

I am grateful for what the team has accomplished, but I fear that instead of building on those accomplishments, we are undermining our achievements by dismantling the winning core.

When the team was clearing the table and locking in on a possible treble you were nowhere to be found on the forums. Not saying you weren't happy with the results while they were coming, but to come out and label our historic return to the european elite with a description such as

If your idea of 'praise' is simply not entering the Marotta thread when the fucking world proved you wrong - then yeah, you really praised them thoroughly until the first chance you got for ripping into the club came around. They are making incredibly heavy decisions right now, trying to bring our average age down so we do not end up like Milan. Sometimes you have to cut some short term gains for the good of the club in the long run, and they're attempting to do that now. How about you keep your mouth shut until we actually see how the team is going to perform in the first, say, 10 rounds of next season? It would really be becoming of you to do exactly that.

Thinking about it,i wouldnt have made Vidal our biggest earner by giving him a contract extension.6.5m for a B2B midfielder ? We give that kind of wages for attackers/high talent level players.His talent level is pretty much on the same level as the other players in the squad such as Marchisio.
