Marotta knew we already had many talented young midfielders in our books (Appelt, Pogba, Bouy, Marrone, Cisbah), that's why he didn't push for Veratti.
He doesn't seem like a bad kid. If Juventus aren't going buy him, and PSG are and offering him a very nice salary why wouldn't he go there? He doesn't owe us anything.
He had talent, its a shame we missed out on him but I'm not that disappointed because we have one hell of a young midfield coming up as well - Pogba, Marrone, and Appelt.
There is a difference between being interested and be willing to overspend on a kid who never played top flight football.
We were interested but paying that sum is downright crazy, especially since we have more urgent needs (top CF).
If he were clever, he would have stayed with Pescara for another season and then decide to move on. In such a scenario, we'd have been in a better position to sign him, even though he would have cost more.
I understand. And I should correct myself - we were interested. But Pescara welcomed PSG to the bidding party and Juventus is not going into a bidding war with them which is completely understandable and I'm happy that we haven't. Verratti isn't on the top of our priority list. We need a striker and a LWB.
But I don't know why a lot of people are saying Verratti is the culprit. How? It's not his fault PSG came in and offered an insane bid and Pescara won't accept anything lower.

PSG, are apparently offering him a 2M/year contract. The kid is only 19.
If I was 19 and I was offered 2M/year with a team that is showing ambition and building quite a solid squad I'm almost certain I'd join. I'm sure most of you would too. So why is everyone attacking Verratti?
He prefers us, but he can't come. So what do you want him to do? Why wouldn't PSG come back next summer?
I said, why did he refuse all those Italian clubs but signed for PSG?
It's because those Italian clubs like Napoli didn't offer him 2 million euros per year, it's as simple as that. He apparently wanted to stay with Pescara for next season but I guess money talks, bullshit walks.

That's only picturing the good part. You forgot about the part where they buy almost every established player in Italy with any bit of skill they can get... And the part where he will struggle for playing time or the part where he leaves his country at the age of 19 to feel homesick and fail like many others before him. Plus if he actually wanted Juve, he'd have rejected PSG's offer so Pescara would've actually lowered the (ridiculous) negotiation price.
Nope, he's smelling the money imo.
It wouldn't made him a better person, but a smarter one for sure.
