Given his use of Borriello, do you think it would be insane to say that Conte asked for him? And we might even purchase him this summer.

Whether Conte asked for them or not, Marotta brought in some important players (Pirlo was amazing) and in the end we have a very good squad to build on for a good price. Even some of last years purchases are still effective (Storari, Bonucci, Barzagli, Pirlo, Pepe, Quagliarella, Matri) and very useful to this team, before Conte even arrived.
If you think I am underrating Conte's influence on this team, I don't. He was the most important factor. And who signed him?
I think eventually, Marotta will be remembered for what he can do now. This time he'll be playing with a lot more money on a single player.

It was not a transfer director miracle to sign Pirlo, we had no competion and he had little options too. Vidal was harder to get.
And i again, we should not connect the performances to the transfer director's work. The transfer director'w work ends once with the transfer window.
The facts we had back then, was that Pirlo was a half used up player, with a high salary, a season without games, but the promise to offer great solutions for a couple of years. He wanted to go into a great Italian team and be given a starter jersey. Inter didnt want him and he wouldnt go there, so we were the natural choice. Vidal on the other hand, was a harder target, since we had international competition.
However we should not forget our other needs too, where is the CB and where is the RM starter? From the begining of the summer those 2 players where supposed to be our priorities. Marotta wasted the whole summer, wasted time with ghost he was chasing to no effect and made a sloppy last day purchase in Elia. To add more insult to the cause, he spread the cash on Giaccherini and EstiG too. All he should do, for a season we were not needing CL depth was keeping Giovinco and add a great starter. Before Conte had to adapt into Marotta's failures and change our formation and in an equally effective way, this was of critical importance, but ppl have such a short and selective memory...
Marotta failed in most of our priorities, a less adaptable coach would fail too because of that, Conte deserves extra praise for that.
On the Vucinic deal, he was not needed for the 4-4-2, we had enough depth and we should better hold that cash for future purchaces, like Jovetic for ex
Now we cant buy Cavani and Jovetic because of this choice.
However by changing into a 3 man attack, Conte took the maximum of our plentiful attacking options.
Otherwise we would be wasting millions on the bench far too often.
The 3 men he chose for the midfield and attack was not his initial plan, but the adapted plan to make an optimal use of our material.
He asked for other players/solutions, Marotta failed to deliver them, setting a handicap, but despite that, Conte adapted, made an optimal use of what he had and won. This makes his deeds far more heroic, also fighting against the Milan's refs, even more.
Its a disgrace for the Juve fans to reckon this, we have seen first hand with what he was dealing.
Marotta did nor deliver what he was asked to, AA no ref influence, they should not share spoils with Conte, Conte really did it all alone and the proof is there for everyone to see, by comparing this season to the previous one...
Lets not axxagerate, it would be best to withdraw the no 10 for a year and then give it for the man who earns it, among the available options (that cannot be compared with DP, not even remotely of course).
But DP himself asked not to be withdrawn, maybe he is fancy of the future comparisons...
He knows that as long as we live, no one will come close to this legend and if someone does, it would be the best for Juve, what he always fought for...
