Marco Verratti (born 5 November 1992 in Pescara) is an Italian footballer who currently plays as a midfielder for Pescara in Serie B.

A technically gifted playmaker with notable assistman skills, Verratti grew up as a player in the Pescara youth system and made his first team debut in 2007 at the age of 16. In the 2009–10 season he appeared more regularly for Pescara, and since then he has become a key player for his team. His performances to date also won him notable nationwide coverage, his name being often touted as one of the future Italian football stars.

Has his own offical website

The Next Francesco Totti

Marco Verratti is one of the most talented 16 year olds to ever step foot onto a first team pitch. Verratti has been touted as the next Francisco Totti due to his outstanding agility and fantastic first touches. His favorite squad is Juventus. Marco Verratti has been at Pescara Calcio all his life and was with them when they reached Serie B where he was 14, being the youngest player in any of the teams in Serie B, despite getting no football that season, Pescara got relegated to Serie C1/B which is the Italian Third Division where they have been since 2006/2007. In the 2008/2009 season Marco Verratti made 7 appearances for the Italian club, scoring no goals that season. This season (2009/2010) Verratti has made 1 appearance for Pescara in which he scored a superb goal from the corner of the area in a 3-2 win against Sangiustese. Marco Verratti has a contract in which expires in 2012, but Pescara has consisted in selling the young lad to overcome financial depths. It is reported that West Ham, Inter, Lazio, Roma Juventus, Milan and many other clubs are interested in capturing Marco's signature.

How Football Manager Rates Him

In our favourite game Football Manager, Marco is a fantastic prospect for the future. With him already having better stats than 25 year olds and only being a 16 year old, you can tell he has great current ability and a promising potential ability. Marco is a player who is believe to have potential to be better than Francesco Totti. Marco has some fantastic Technical Attributes in the game, but his speciality is his set-pieces. If you are looking for a good Free-Kick Taker, Penalty Taker & Corner Taker, than Marco is your man. Verratti also has a fantastic technique and brilliant flair. One of Marco's problem's is his Aggression, unfortunately it is too often when aggression comes to his mind, so you might see several bans per season for Verratti. For the asking price on Pescara's hands, it is very low, much lower than most clubs would ask. For the 310,000 asking price you could not get a better player than him. I would recommend Marco to any team's in the higher ranks of a country. He will join most teams which offer a fair bit of money. If you want to sign him on a free you will have to wait until 2012, in which his contract expires, but somebody might have signed him by than. Marco Verratti has a fantastic Potential Ability of -9 which could vary on your game

Which clubs are linked most strongly with him?

Anyway he's a Juve fan, right? That's usually helpful when it comes to young players.
Well last season he was very close to Milan, but then he decided to sign an extenstion with Pescara until 2012 so he can keep growing as a player. As it stands now, Roma are very close to signing him, as his agent said him and Roma are going through talks, which is no surprise because Sabatini is always interested in signing new youth. Guys like Vivani and Borini speak for themselves withen Italian prospects in their squad, needless to say he also discovered the likes of Alessandro Nesta and Pastore.

These articles explain whats currently going on with him and Roma.

If he's good enough, he'll end up here eventually.
As it stands right now, he is good, and the future seems right with many big clubs linked with him. This kid has lots of potential and hopefully he does great. Another player was Lorenzo Tassi from Brescia, who only at the age of 16 is being proclaimed as the next Baggio... Inter signed him this summer for 1m.

Streamed a random Pescara game a while back, they have an interesting team of few talents, Verratti (FM legend more then anything else :D But promising still), our Immobile, Insigne (this one is electric, hehe) plus more importantly Zeman offense footie makes them an interesting game. They should make Serie A next season, and showcase these youngsters more.

Great post, and I agree. I was thinking about making a topic on Insigne, but knowing a lot of Italian Football fans knew him, I was like forget it. Though, he is another prospect to look at, that being if he's actually going to produce in the future. They proclaim him to be the next 'Lavezzi', hopefully he finds a way to break through the senior squad. He just scored two goals on his debut with the U21 squad.

Verratti though is the real deal at the moment if you ask me, we need a new Fantastista for the future! Most of all he loves Juve :p

Also, even if they do make it to Serie A, Immobile will be back in Juventus, Insigne back to Napoli and Veratti may be the only one to stay or be linked to move to someone like Roma.
