Claudio Marchisio believes the Bianconeri have come out all guns blazing since seeing their unbeaten record go up in smoke against Inter.
The midfielder, speaking from Italy’s training camp, has been an inspirational presence in Juventus’ subsequent successes against Nordsjaelland and Pescara and is confident the team have fully recovered from their setback against the Nerazzurri.
The 26-year-old said: “The Inter defeat served as a wake-up call. That game gave us the desire to get back to fighting as we did last season. After two days it was immediately apparent that the team had managed to shrug off the defeat and focus on the Champions League game, which wasn’t an easy encounter by any stretch of the imagination.”
Marchisio concluded by expressing his belief that the Bianconeri have nothing to fear as they aim to secure a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League with positive results against Chelsea and Shakhtar.
“If we take to the field as we have done in the last couple of last games, both in the Champions League and Serie A, then we certainly have no need to fear Chelsea. We didn’t in the first encounter, when we found ourselves 2-0 down and fought back to draw.
“We’ll have great respect for the reigning European champions, but we’ll face them with the knowledge that we’ve grown considerably in the last year and have everything that’s needed to get through to the next round.”
