He didn't play in midfield, he played wide in a 4-3-3 formation just like against Eire. And yes he scored a penalty kick..against Motherwall...youth team :)

Depends from the points of view! When he's playing wide it's like he's a midfield player, innit? Would you consider that he played in a midfield role against Eire? If yes then he did play in a midfield position, if no then he played as a wide forward like Lippi always likes to play him (same position during his first/second season with Juve).

i hope he gets to play against bielorussia i realy am feeling bad about del piero and how he is treated i am starting to think that maybe he sohuld leave for his own sake

I thought Lippi was supposed to be the good guy who does not mistreat DP. Maybe even Lippi has lost the football plot now that he ain't playing him?

Could be an option. And it might still be possible cos Lippi is just shuffling his cards.

Though to be honest, Toni has been in form and I wouldn't leave him out.

He's trying pretty hard to shed the mantle of being the Del Piero protector IMO.

atm toni is clearly better. he still has alot to prove. but being such a big bastard he can dribble!

im so impressed with his development. hes definatly become one of my fav players over the past 4 years.
