Luis Suarez - Forward - Liverpool (96 Viewers)

If possible, would you sign Luis Suárez?

  • Yes, he's a great player

  • Yes, but only if the price is right

  • Begrudgingly, his talent outweighs the negatives

  • No, his character doesn't reflect well on Juventus

  • No, he is almost subhuman

  • Kill it, kill it with fire!

really none, i like both players a lot, i just value the attribute of el pipita more
Suarez is really better by a margin in terms of work rate, dribbling, shooting, finishing, pace, free kicks, spirit, passing, assisting.. I really cant see how you might even see them as equals. One is a beast for both club and country while the other is barely a starter at his own club. I'd take Rooney over this fella.

Suarez's success depends a lot on the system he's in and how the team is set up around him.

Even if we paid the 40m+, his wage demands are way higher than what any of our current players get. It'd create internal tensions if he comes along on a massive wage while the rest are on something comparatively average. Plus we have Marotta.

There is no way in the world we're getting this dude - close the thread already.

I'm not really interested in how much Suárez will cost (it'll easily be €35m+ at this rate), but I think you should stop underestimating Liverpool's control in this transfer. They aren't struggling with money and the new TV deal will rain cash down on them. This isn't Fulham. It's similar to how Juventus would have demanded the world for Chiellini in 2011 after a couple of shit seasons, but to a lesser extent because strikers cost more in general anyway.

It's a dream that an oil club can have right now. Lower the expectations all of you.
To the best of my knowledge Liverpool are actually in the red as far as their accounts are concerned. They may be able to sustain heavy losses with such deals but it would be a fallacy to assume that lack of CL action is not weakening their position as a selling club.

Also, even if for a minute we assume Suarez is to cost 40m. What would you rather do with this summer's entire budget if not buy someone of his quality? It's an oil club dream to buy a player worth 40m every season, but it's certainly a valuable investment to buy such a player once in a 3-4 year cycle after you have spent on mediocre players as well as others that have given you a solid base to launch off. The ONLY two positions that need fixing right now are an SS and an LwB and a purchase of a top quality SS would allow us to make that quantum leap in ways we can only dream right now. As for Suarez's wages, I do believe we have been in the Market for an RVP and Aguero level signing, before losing out for various reasons, but at both times, it was evident that we were willing to pay a certain level of salary to those players, and that would now apply to a Suarez level signing. I see no reason to lower expectations this summer after Marrotta has had three seasons to sign one quality player in attack. Bendtner was unacceptable last season, but if Suarez is above expectations currently, then I don't think we are looking at the CL as seriously as we should.

That the guy has some serious skills is beyond discussion. I've been following the guy since his Ajax times and have seen him play in the Arena too.
I have always felt that he'd be a great asset to Juventus and now he is proving to be a top striker in the EPL. You can hate on EPL as much as you want, but it is a tough competition and difficult for any striker to score. Some of you who don't think he is all that great should spend more time watching Suarez.

Suarez is a dream.. He is incredibly good for Liverpool.

Pipita would be amazing as well IMO, but head to head I rate Suarez a level above!

Yeah, it was marotta's task to sign a world class striker with less then 30 mil fee and 6 mil wages

God, and look how bad we currently are with what he was allowed to buy instead ! mediocre mid table team as we became
