Precisely he'd shift us to a 4-3-3, and would create a lot of chances in attack for us.

The other two are not dangerous with the ball at their feet.
I understand some are obsessed with 4-3-3, but I don't see how Asamoah and Lichtsteiner are supposed to compare to Nani from an attacking perspective, they are different types of player. It's like me saying how Nani lacks stability and would offer nothing defensively.

I actually think the wingback role is completely misundertood, they are not wingers in the classical sense

Yes I did, Licht is a solid player, no doubt. He's one of the top RWB's going around right now. What I'm saying is that he and Asa are not dangerous attackers. They are great defenders and decent at helping the attack, Licht more so, but you'd be hard pressed seeing them take matters in their own hands, beat a player, and setup a goal or score. That's not a criticism of them because ultimately they're defensive minded players.

Nani on the other hand is a world class attacker.
Here is my thing:

If they could work on their crossing we would all benefit. Whether they can take players on or not is irrelevant. Our way of play always gives our wing backs plenty of space behind the defense. It's what they do with that space that matters.

Crossing is whats most important from our wing backs versus beating players.

The shore up the flanks denying space and offering defensive stability. What we need from our WB's is better distribution into the box with more accurate crossing. That would help.

I agree and this is exactly one of the things that Nani provides.

@Mark so PaddyPower is the only thing that we have to believe?

Wingbacks are not wingers and what our wingbacks offer are width and defensive support. Asamoah is not good going forward, while Licht loves to make those runs.

We lack any sort of creativity from our wide players - playing the odd 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 with a player like Nani on the RW would give us plenty of attacking ammunition

no, you believe who you think is right.

If you go by their track records:

PP say it's done. They were right with Tevez and paid out both bets. They we wrong with Verratti to Real and Di Maria to Juve but didn't pay out. They could still be wrong on Nani. We'll know in 4 days.

GDM is the king of the mercato but on Juve Laudisa seems the most reliable this year. Both mention we'll make an offer when his contract is up.

So we might get him but don't know when. :D
