How do you explain this subs....

Taking Toni out for a player who hasn't played for more than what 60days? And put him in some crucial match like this when he couldn't do a single thing. Why not Del Piero? He didn't want to change tactics? Fine don't change tactics, be stubborn and play an off-form player who can't get into the rhythm of the game is like playing one man down. :sergio:

Only god knows how many never ending insults Del Neri would have got had Eto'o scored. He really escaped.

I think the issue with DP not coming on was mainly because DN didnt want to fix what wasn't broken. He wanted a toni like replacement in iaquinta. Del Piero was most likely to come on for matri but we had to use subs else where. My only issue is why not put martinez on for toni. He can win balls and works hard

Iaquinta usually presses high up the pitch. Del Piero does'nt it was a sensible sub but Del Neri cannot control how Iaquinta does on the pitch.
Not when you're off the pitch for 2months. I seriously can't understand some coaches, how do you expect from someone to keep up with the game temperature and pressing continuesly when he hasn't played for some-time and wasn't even part of Cagliari's win last week.

And lets assume he wanted to keep the same tactics replace Toni with someone who's similar to his characteristic and style, he failed.

Which ones made no sense?

Toni out of steam and not 100% - like for like striker, who also isn't 100%
Marchisio barely fit for the game - lasts an hour, another LM comes on for him. Meanwhile Matri gets injured as this was taking place, and...
Melo injured - Sissoko on

Introducing Iaquinta for Toni was the mistake. His first subs.

If Toni ran out of gas and can't run anymore put one of Del Piero or Martinez but not Iaquinta who hasn't touched a ball for freaking 2months and wasn't EVEN TRYING. He really pissed me off.

Well Del Piero or Martinez would have been a tactical change because they offer something different. It might have actually worked better, at least we would have used the channels and the ball would have stuck for more than 3 seconds. But I'm unsure as to whether Delneri knew quite how out of it Iaquinta was. He shouldn't have even been on the bench.

And to think that there's no one better than Del Piero to kill Inter's attacking rhythm on us by grabbing fouls and calming down the play he still insisted on Vincenzo. :sergio:

I like your avatar, btw.

I agree with Rab, even thou I favor fully fit Iaquinta over DP for these kind of matches, but this substitution was wrong..

First of all credits to Del Neri for sticking with Chiellini and Sorensen as fullbacks, I was asking that for ages, that's the good part. About the negative ones, after the goal, we sat back the rest of the match.. until the goal we scored, we were killing Inter, if we wanted we could score another one, he is very lucky for this victory, he gave what Inter wanted, TO SIT BACK!

As for subs, if he wanted to waste time and sit back the whole match, yes he could put DP in, DP could control the ball and slow down the game, and win freekicks here and there, as for the second sub, was Marchisio injured? if he was then no critic here, if not, that was a retarded sub when Melo was down and Matri was in pain.

As for those who go with the sarcasm "still criticizing Del Neri??" yeah you criticize him for his wrong tactics and subs even if he wins, should we praise him when he wins and bash him when he loses? :shifty:

He is not a player, to have off form, he is the manager, and he should always make the right decisions..

Cesare Maldini on Al-Jazeera was questioning Del Neri saying why doesn't he try to attack more because obviously we could have scored more than one goal. He said each time we tried to attack we created a good chance if Del Neri didn't sit back and played Catennaccio system. I can't understand this coward mentality at times.

But then again, who am I to expect an attacking football from someone who was defending against Inter when they had 2men down in the first 15min of their game.

I know, his coward mentality pissed me off, but then again I am glad he realized that Grygera, Motta and Grosso are bunch of clowns and should never step in the field again, good improvement.
