EDIT: Too late :D

He certainly knows how to speak to the press. I like the fact that he wants to starts with a sure 4 in the back while the the rest can be rotated between a 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1,...etc.

Del Neri: 'I also like 4-3-3'

Tuesday 25 May, 2010

New Juventus boss Gigi Del Neri has insisted that he has the tactical flexibility to succeed with the Bianconeri.

The former Sampdoria Coach is largely known for his 4-4-2 formation but at Juve he could change his style.

“It is not true that I always play 4-4-2, I also like 4-3-3,” said Del Neri.

“When at Roma I used a trident, but also had the trequartista behind a lone striker like in Bergamo or Genoa. I have always been open to new ideas.

“A tactician always needs to consider the quality and talent at his disposal in order to make the most of his players.

“We will start with four at the back that is for sure. Then we will change according to our rivals.

“Inter have created a 4-2-3-1 which has been fundamental to counter-attack with great speed and that can be seen as an example.”

Del Neri has also discussed what he believes the Bianconeri need to improve upon last season's disappointing seventh-place finish.

“We obviously need to improve but a completely new foundation is not needed,” he explained.

“A team like Juventus, built with many international players, does not need to change too much but just to rediscover itself.

“We need to regain our reputation in Europe by targeting every competition we are. That means the Europa League, the Coppa Italia and, of course, the Scudetto.”

I don't hear anybody about the fact that we ''do not need to change much''
I hope he's not talking about Grygera, Grosso, Cannavaro staying ...
i read in the metro newspaper in london today that he said yesterday he is a captain without a club because we have decided not to use the option to extend his contract another 12 months

Jep, read something similar just a few minutes ago.
At least we won't pay his salary anymore plus we got an extra space to fill.

We haven't signed just a coach out of thin air, it is the whole package we have signed: Marotta, Del Neri, Paratici, the medical staff, minor coaches and trainers. The club has trusted the group with getting Juventus back on track, Marotta obviously can work well with Del Neri and has faith in him, the club has faith in Marotta, we just have to hope they got it right.
Hope is for sissies.

This combination of Del Neri, Marotta and his technical staff have only one season behind them, which isn't a lengthy track record.

If we based our future on one season worth of Sampdoria, we are truly fucking retards.

I honestly think it is a good plan and could pay off. Better then keeping the old directors and just pairing some random coach with them. We just need to put together a capable team.

How bad does that make us look though? Mighty juventus has to garage sale shop other clubs for BOD, coach, staff, and medics instead of producing and keeping its own?
