In portugal, one team is dominating the league, Porto, with 5 points above the second placed sporting. Porto have both the best atack and also the best defence., 32 goals scored and 8 conceded. Porto are doing well also in the Champions league, passing for the next round with equall points as Arsenal. However in the next round Porto will have a mountain to climb when they face there former coach Murinho.

WIthin porto 2 players are catching the eye of all europe, Pepe and Lucho Gonzales. The 2 southamericans are often decisive for there squad, and they were also among the best players yesterday in Porto's 4-0 win ( pepe 2 goals and one post, Lucho Gonzales one goal). According to some rumours from Portugal, both Pepe (born 1983 - hence 23 years old) and also Gonzales (25 years old) have been oftenly closely scouted by Juventus scouts.

Hehe Gonzalez and Anderson will be very nice. Gonzalez has played some games for the Argie NT right ? Does anybody has some impressions about Anderson now at Porto? I saw him in the Youth Tournament and probably there are still some defenders that have problems to walk because Anderson has make them mad :p

Is Gonzalez a defensive midfielder?!!! :smoke:
he is not exactly a defensive midfielder, he is a pure central midfieder, i think he fits very very well working with a defensive midfidler, if wed have mascherano- lucho gonzales id go crazy... if we keep playing in a 4 4 2 formation he fits in veryy wellll... even in an eventual 4 3 1 2 or a 4 3 3 he can play...

Luis Oscar 'Lucho' González (born January 19, 1981 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentinian football (soccer) player who currently plays for Futebol Clube do Porto.

Called Lucho by fans, González played since age 14 in the Huracán team prior to his transfer to the River Plate team in 2002. Once in River Plate, he was an important piece in the 2004 Clausura championship title. He played with the Argentine team that won the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He has ten tattoos on his body, including Maradona's signature.

Lucho has had a great first season at Porto, leading them to their first Superliga title since the departure of José Mourinho. Even from midfield, Lucho is the leading scorer for the team, along with Ricardo Quaresma, seen as the main reason behind the success of Porto. Lucho's fine form has captured the attention of many European giants, Chelsea and Inter Milan but denied the moves and Stayed in Porto. He played in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and left very disappointed when losing against hosts Germany in the quarter-finals, when expectations for Argentina were much higher. He had managed 5 goals in 30 caps, as of July 2006.Lucho is well known in the field for is calm control, great technique and scoring capacity. He scored one of the best goals of 2006/2007 Champions League against Hamburg SV in a long first touch shot.

He shouldnt of let Maradona use a magic marker...

Want to careful not to become like inter with a team packed with Argies. On paper at least they would certainly appear to be quality signings.

If Pepe is solid defensively and better than Barzagli yes, if he's another brazilian than can score but can't defend no.

Lucho anytime, I saw him play with River and he was great.

Andersson would be nice though.

Lucho would be a good signing.

Juve would be better of signing Felipe if they want a Brasilian cb. Already accumstomed to Italy, and he is better defensively.

so Felipe is better defensively than Pepe? We might just as well play Zebina in the centre. :eyebrows:

Pepe is a very calm, defending defender who's great on the head. Reminds me of Kolo Touré.

He can shoot too. http://youtube.com/watch?v=89saGjZW7YQ
