its not a question of underrating Cigarini, i think he looks like he could be a good player, but next season we will probably have Zanetti-Sissoko-Xabi Alonso-Marchisio as our centre mids, so why waste money on a player who will probably get little playing time when we already have a good young centre mid who will cost nothing and is at the same level as Cigarini.

Marchisio = free
Cigarini = A few million

it is not a difficult decision, when we need to invest in other areas.

i still think marchisio is a better player now and is showing the bigger potential,even though the future could be different. But even after i saw him playing a few times in the 2nd half of the season and he didn't impress me at all.

I would like to see him in Juve more than Xabi, Poulsen, Stankovic or even Aquilani. He is a goddamn excellent player.
All those you mentionned are better then him except maybe Stankovic who is off form (but still better).

Especially Aquilani and Xabi are 2 times the players this dude is. Not that this isnt obvious, but for example, when Aquilani was Azzurrini, he was by far the best player in that team, ahead of Montolivo and Chiellini even. And in general, one of the top few best in U-21 level. While in comparison, Cigarini doesnt have much left in Azzurrini level as he is 22, but he has mainly been just average.

Are you serious about this? I would take Cigarini over Poulsen too, but Xabi, Stank and Aquilani? Gotta love it when people overrate players.

I'm all for young players but he wasnt needed. He isn't any better than Marchisio and with Zanetti, Sissoko and possibly Alonso or Stankovic, there isnt enough room for him and Marchisio.

In addition, moving to Atalanta will give him a chance to shine and prove himself. After the NTs performance in the Euro, we need our young stars to start stepping it up and giving current oldies in the NT abit of pressure.

OK, I'm not saying he is the best midfielder in the world, I just like him. :)

Stankovic and Poulsen are assholes and they won't be better player than they are now. Cigarini can. It's true Aquilani is better I couldn't complain it and maybe I overrate Cigarini, but I like his style. In the azzurrini he's got some very good game. He has the vision to cross the ball very precisely.

I wish him the best in Atalanta.

Poulsen is a strong DM who is very good at his best. He was at times the best DM in La Liga the season he signed for Sevilla. If he played in Parma, he would have been their star midfielder.

Call him an asshole, but dont say he is bad just for the sake of it. He is around the level of our Zanetti (and Senna if you will, who didnt have one his best seasons last season, but still solid as we saw), solid DM who does his just well enough.

Future doesnt matter much when right now you arent doing much. And I like Cigarini as a talent, but he has hardly done squat. I have seen in several azzurrini games, he is doesnt stand out at all one bit. Just one ze bunch. Our own Marchisio has been more noticeable in his impact in the midfield. And his teammate Dessena is much better then him in the azzurrini (while its the opposite in Parma, cigarini is better).

I think Dessena is overrated much more than Cigarini but in the azzurrini he really played well than in Parma.

Asshole or not I think Poulsen is average, a lot of footballer can play like him. Zanetti is better IMO. I didn't count how many goal passes Poulsen has but I think not many. He's just a defensive midfielder, he can do it well but that's all. I don't rate him as a unique player.

Cigarini not good enough to play in Juve, I agree with it. I hope some day he will, but it wouldn't be the first case if a player don't became as good as we expected.

But he is just a defensive midfielder that is what he does, it's not his job to do assists and through passes just like Sisssoko, Senna, Mascherano, etc..

I'm actually ok with talented youngsters since they can be slowly integrated to the team, but I'm not sure rather he can make it and to be involved in a co-ownership worth 5 m € for him is too steep
