its quite phenomenal the depth these books go into, mindblowing in fact!

It is to those under the misconception that lotr is only the 1168 pages of FOTR, TTT and ROTK.

But if you look at lotr properly and see that it really sits at 7368 pages (FOTR, TTT and ROTK = 1168 , history of middle earth = 5500 , Silmarilion = 400 , hobbit = 300 ) its not so surprising.
