It's a cop out. The writers were challenged to tell a story -- to string a few things together to explain themselves. What's with the Dharma Initiative? What was the point with the Others? Why are Richard and Desmond unlike the rest? Why was the entire island moved rather than be found by Mr. Whitmore? Why was it important to actually have the people together -- before, after, etc?

It's not like these are simple plot details extraneous to the story. An entire friggin island got moved.

The writers' answer was a complete cop-out: "Doesn't matter, everybody is dead."

Shit, if that was the whole point of the series, they could have ended it at the second episode.

Depends on what you like, Ken. Good acting and storytelling is one thing. If you want to lean more towards a reality bent, check out The Wire. There's nothing sci-fi about it, but...

And if you want to add a sci-fi dimension to it, Life on Mars (UK version) ain't bad.

I know how you feel Ken, am only watching stuff to pass the time...30 Rock, United States of Tara etc...Weeds and Dexter are two really good shows though, that is if you've not already seen them.

House was really good, it's struggling now though. Dexter and Breaking Bad are also very good.

Yeah, I was actually annoyed with the questions that went un-answered. But I did like the "everyone's dead spin". Would have been better if the writers had done both this season.

I've been watching Breaking Bad since the beginning -- it's gotten better as its gone on. (Though I was a little disappointed with the last episode, which was more like something out of the Pink Panther cartoon.)

Also been a huge fan of Mad Men since it started, and it should be back on the air in the Fall.

And also a big fan of Rescue Me, which comes back next month. Though that's more on the dramedy angle...

I watched Justified for 6 episodes, like James Ellroy's stuff, and heard he wrote and co-produced that series.


And Swag, totally spot on, obviously. But as I said earlier, I realized around middle of season 5 that they would really not bother answering these things, even if I am still shocked by the cheesy cop out ending, because they can still end it in a way that is not that lazy and meh without answering much to us.

Ken, I like 24, but its no where near Lost's level (even if extremelly well produced), been way too inconstent or one sided (there are several series better then 24). But yeah everything Jack Bauer related is awesome And dont fret, 24 will have a movie coming out.


Ken, agree with above mentionned series, can add Sons of anarchy, interesting biker gang crime series. And Supernatural, very unique series.

And pretty much you should try everything in HBO's catalogue Except Sex and the city Usually high standard, The Wire and Rome being the best IMO.

Exactly, it is a the biggest load of shit series on TV, without a propper tying up it's not artistic mastery on the part of the writers but retardation. They didn't masterfully craft this ending all along they just spent 6 years pulling shit out of their asses while people watched and commented how amazing Lost is. Compare it to the Wire, I fucking dare anybody to say it is even 1/2 the show the Wire is or the Shield or the Sopranos.

You can say whatever you want about Lost but it was damn entertaining and despite the major flaws I'm glad I watched all of it. It was one hell of an entertaining ride.
