Which wouldn't have happened, as he was bleeding after one punch. When that plug was taken out his powers went. I don't think he realised that would happen.

That is true, I guess he couldn't leave the Island without giving up his power. If true then what was the point of Desmond as a fail safe? If Desmond is the one person who can make it possible for the smoke monster to leave than why the fook did Jacob want him there?

Yeah, but it was his own fault, at first his plan was to get out of the island not destroy it, which obviously backfired on him. Maybe this was exactly the safeguard plan that the smokemonster would fall into.

And if he would have left with his powers, I doubt he would have went after and killed all 6billion people. I think the end of all meant that the after life stoped existing. Thats my version :p

Probably is. :D

Anyway, the show had me hooked since the first episode and I'm sorry it's over. It's not going to be easy to find shows like this, since 24 is over aswell. I'm looking into a few series though.

Already recommended few pages back, but I will recommend it again - The Wire, you can't go wrong with that one, it is not a science fiction, but one hell of a show, in my opinion the best show ever made :)

You don't know The Wire?

It's not on tv anymore, it's pretty old. It has like 5 seasons. About crime, drugs, police. Nothing sci-fi or anything.

for me Desmond was a fail safe in that he was the only one who could turn off the islands power and make the smoke monster "human" again so he could be killed.

as for the whole theory on purgatory- my reasoning is that every single person who landed on the island was flawed in many ways, the only way they could pass on peacefully into the afterlife is if they redeemed themselves in some way.
that is why Michael and the "voices in the jungle" were all trapped on the island as they never redeemed themselves and therefore could not pass over as they had not made amends for their indiscretions in life

I was glad that Desmond ended up being so important, I liked the character ever since they found him in the hatch.

I totally agree that Michael and the voices on the Island seemed like they were in a purgatory but the other characters were not. I will see if I can find the interview or an article on it in which the writers denied the theories about purgatory and that the plane crash killed everybody.

Summary: Twin Peaks rules :delpiero:
The way Lost played out was a complete Twin Peaks wannabe in the end.

Twin Peaks is a gay bar in SF :shifty:
And ironically, the name seems to better refer to a wet T-shirt contest.

OK, one involving women...

I'm not one for sudden WTF moments myself.
Some of the best moments on TV can be those. A few of them came from Breaking Bad in the past few years. There is one scene in the first season of that which totally caught me offguard and went off the way-too-freaking-cool meter. :D

Des was always cool.

But the purgatory thing? That must mean Mr. Eko is in limbo then, because he was never seen nor heard from again.

But as we all know, the Pope recently officially declared limbo non-existent -- closed due to budget cuts, as it were. So something ain't adding up here...

Good show while it lasted. Thankfully they switched it off at the right time. They had no clue about where they wanted to take the show.

What a crappy show ending! I knew since the finale of season three that the writers have run out of ideas and they will never know how to end the series in a proper way. I can't believe I wasted my time watching the the last three seasons :sergio:

IMO,Lost should have ended after Season 3.

I was reading some reviews to see if I'm the only one thinking the show has become so silly. I totally agree with these reviews:

David Zurawik of 'Baltimore Sun': "If this is supposed to be such a smart and wise show, unlike anything else on network TV (blah, blah, blah), why such a wimpy, phony, quasi-religious, white-light, huggy-bear ending. … Once Jack stepped into the church it looked like he was walking into a Hollywood wrap party without food or music — just a bunch of actors grinning idiotically for 10 minutes and hugging one another."

Shane Hegarty of 'The Irish Times':"The Sopranos was not about mystery, but its final scene was so inscrutable that fans are still squinting in an effort to figure it out. Lost ’s finale, though, was not too obtuse, it was silly"

The Sopranos, now that show had an ending to remember. I wish I had spent my time watching the sopranos again and again instead of the last 3 lost seasons.

Six Feet Under had one of the best endings in series history, IMO. The Sopranos' ending was lame compared to it.
