To some people, the players are obviously more important than teams. And to them, I say go to DPForever.it or whatever and have at it.

These people are not juventini by any means -- they're del pieiristi. And when DP either retires, leaves the team, or is traded -- as will inevitably happen as it does with all players -- their fair-weather support of Juventus can die along with DP's career as far as I'm concerned.

Any moron can go for an independent, unbiased opinion at La Gazzetta dello Sport, for example:
http://www.gazzetta.it/speciali/sta...IONALE&SQUADRA=Juventus++++++++++++++++++++++
Look up Juventus, and there are professional opinions in bianco e nero with average votes on how well our players have performed thus far this year:

:. VOTI DEL CAMPIONATO

Giocatore Ruolo Voto

Emerson CEN 6.63

Camoranesi CEN 6.48

Cannavaro DIF 6.43

Buffon POR 6.33

Nedved CEN 6.28

Pessotto DIF 6.25

Ibrahimovic ATT 6.2

Blasi CEN 6.18

Kapo CEN 6.17

Zebina DIF 6.16

Zalayeta ATT 6.14

Olivera ATT 6.11

Tacchinardi CEN 6.1

Thuram DIF 6.05

Zambrotta DIF 5.95

Appiah CEN 5.94

Del Piero ATT 5.75

Yep. DP is rated rock bottom, even below Appiah. That sounds like justification for putting him in the starting line-up every match to me. Maybe a nice duo between DP and Appiah will do the trick in the CL this year too.

Just pathetic how badly people are willing to stick their heads in the sand (or in other bodily orifices) when it comes to DP...

I love DP as much as the next juventini. But winning as a team has to come first.

Why is it wrong to hate Capello, and its right to hate Del Piero?
There are good reasons to hate Capello (poor tactics in close games with bare leads, etc.), and then there are bad reasons.

I don't hate DP -- he's vital to our team and I wish he were in far better form. But even Lippi felt free to dish on DP's form once at the helm of the NT. There's a difference between hating and recognizing that the player just isn't cutting it right now to help our success as a first-team starter. That decision of Capello's is one I fully support.

I hope del piero leaves juve for his and juve's sake. I don't hate him,but i don't want to see him playing with juve as a regular cause he is making the game slow and wrong passes losing the ball etc.. but if he wants to stay on the bench and help the team whenever we need him(like a true juventino supposed to do) and not complain anybody about that .I still welcome him, but i don't think that he is happy from the situation.as i see him pissed off on the bench or sad..
I would love to see him retire at juve like i wished to see baggio and zidane retire at juve, but this is business, i prefer him leave now like i said for his and our sake..
I laugh all the time at most of delpiero die hard fans here.they hate zlatan, trezeguet, zalayeta, capello for no reason. I wish if they learn some from Stuart and others how to react. grow up FFS:groan:

I've been through this debate far too many times to get heavily involved this time around, but the highlight for me is the fact that some people think the Stadio Delle Alpi is named after Alex Del Piero :howler:

BTW, azzuri, non of us are Zlatanistas as you would like to think, we just want Zlatan to play because he's better, and I think 9 goals and at least as many assist prove that.

It's ridiculous to claim that anyone who registered to the forums before this season is a Zlatanista  It may be a foreign concept to some people, but many of us want what's best for the team, and Zlatan showed that he's performing well for us, creating both of our goals today. I don't know how anyone who claims to want what's best for Juve can complain about Del Piero's absence today when the player who replaced him did his job superbly....

Thats one thing I would like to point out. Stuart has shown restraint and class while discussing the Del Piero topic, and thats very commendable. He is a huge DP fan, however he realizes that the club comes before players and is not blind to the fact that Ibrahimovic has been our best forward thus far in the season. A lot of people could learn a lesson or two about his conduct and arguementitive skills, because he is open to other arguements and accepts the facts. Cheers to Stuart.

Cappello has been awsome, lookl at our Juve team now, they're not the most attractive, and not that solid at times, but we do win games, and we've been strong against big clubs.

For the sake of building DP, we wasted Miccoli and Di Vaio (who last year was in superb form before lippi decide to bench him again). Honestly those two strikers last year looked 2 times better than DP.

He was right to bench DP, and thankfully he is brave enough. DP's time is up, and if people critisice Capello just because he benched DP, then you can figure out urselves who is objective and who isn't.

One way for Del Piero to truly demonstrate his great leadership and an immortal place in the hearts of all juventini would be to know his role as captain is all about how he can best support the team to win.

If that means as a starter because he's earned it, awesome. That's the ideal. If that's as a key substitute in a situational role, then he should work at being the best in that form -- and supporting his coach and the rest of his team as best he possibly can. If it means sitting on the bench because his form isn't there, he certainly can be disappointed, but he should be backing the coach and the team 100% from the touch line.

I know players are competitive and want to do whatever they can by themselves. But a true leader puts the team ahead of personal interests every time -- and sends that message to all his teammates. What a great way to earn respect from fans, coaches, and teammates.

On the other hand, you could be like Luis Figo and storm off the pitch in the England match of Euro 2004, substituted because you've proven ineffective in the match -- and then nowhere to be found when your team is in a critical situation and can use your leadership, experience, and support in areas beyond the pitch.

For DP's sake as well as the sake of Juventus, I hope he chooses the high road.
