This guy must have had one heck of a lawyer.
Nothing to do with lawyers or courts.

This was all down to the Scottish Justice Secretary.

So have any of the family members of the death victims come out against this bs?
Some are against it, some agree with the decision.

Americans have whined from day one, because being tried under Scots law meant he couldn't get the death penalty.

Prostate cancer maaaan. He is gonna die in the worst way imaginable. Like that Secretary said, he has been sentenced now from higher court with a sentence that can not be revoked. So in my oppinion setting him free is not such a bad thing. But hey, i know its easy to talk when none of my relatives have died there. I bet most of the families of the victims are very much angry.....

So whats the Scottish public's opinion on the matter? I find it quite annoying that he was released on compassionate grounds.
Opinion is split.

I'm not entirely sure what to make of the whole thing. I suspect a deal was cut because his conviction was pretty dodgy in a number of ways and may well have been over turned on appeal.

This way he drops his appeal, he gets home to die and a line gets drawn under the whole thing.

Everybody wins.

He'll be dead in a couple of months anyway.

He better be, anyway, or the Scottish Government is going to look really stupid.

Libyan authorities aren't alright in the head it seems. How do you go from admitting and 'apologizing' for a hijacking and blowing up an airplane (Karachi '86 & Lockerbie bombin) and then allowing a parade/welcome back ceremony for someone that was found to be responsible for it? That's sickening really.

Still, he wasn't officially found to be innocent for it. Libyan authorities shouldn't have allowed the airport be loaded with people cheering for his return. His family & friends is one thing but random Libyans is over the top.
