I hear you bro, the UAE has double standards for everything, not just the application of the law...just look at the difference in privileges of the nationals and expatriates, who may be working the same job at the same company, but there will be a significant difference in salaries and facilities

Even worse is the defferntiation between different nationalities, some nationalities are favored by companies and even chased. While others have to kiss asses to get a job, and if u don't know someone in HR in some company then u won't find a decent job.
I, for example, searched for five months for a job to no avail. Then, I met a girl whose dad knows someone who knows someone at Etisalat. That's how I got the job. That said, there are some companies which still hold some credibility in recruiting( like etisalat) but they're rare.

Wasta...that's the way it works in all Middle East!

My first job here was in recruitment, and I used to meet HR/Recruitment Managers face to face. They were never shy to tell me which specific nationality they wanted...and didn't want.

There's also a passport thing. If you hold a UK/US/Canada/EU passport then you'll land an excellent salary here. Plus companies like it, because sending you on a business trip becomes less of a hassle (visas are costly).

Middle Eastern / Asian - depends on your experience + educational background. There's a full range here from Millionaires to underpaid.

Actually it's either millionaires or underpaid. Unless you want to add credit cards abusers to that range.

i read today that 30 years old british woman was caught drunk and having sex on jumaira beach , she faces prison from 6 months to 6 years for that.
What happens to the guy she had sex with ? He'll also be convicted ? Or he wasn't drunk so it's ok ?
Or only the women go to jail for having sex ?

I dunno what the case exactly is, but the guy will get a harsher sentence than the woman

but how's their environmental consulting industry?
Who needs it? All you need is some good rum, a sixer of ginger beer, and a lawnchair. It's Dark & Stormy time -- just write your crap novel, ogle the women in bikinis, and collect your cut of being a tax-free offshore front for a U.S. corporation. :spliff:

This is not rocket science.

Depends on how ugly and fat the woman was.

Really its like Rhizoid said, if people dont like the laws over here, they can feel free to leave, things like these are unaccepted in our community and rightfully so.
