The thing is, its not the South Africans anymore. Everybody who goes to watch the matches seem to be blowing the horn. From the random white boys to the chinese.
If I'm at Brazil 2014 and I just spent 200€ plus airfare to attend, you're damn right I'm wearing a banana hammock and feathers while banging a drum and blowing a whistle when I can.

i like the sound :) it gives a certain distinction..you're in africa, what did you expected? The only problem is that i can't hear the other african teams fans chanting...especially the nigerian or the ghana orchestra that uses to go round the stadium in the game

I don't have a problem with them blowing their horns, if they sounded cool. But during games I find myself in situations where I'm inadvertently slapping myself thinking there's an army of mosquitos around trying to devour me. It kind of ruins the game from a spectator's point of view. I think it's more or less tolerable in these early stages in the competition, but I can't imagine this will still be going on in a semi-final or final.

If you notice during the games, players always point to their ears when a chance is missed. That should be a clear indication to FIFA "who opt for more goals" to stop this shit!

Because if I'm hosting the party and I'm asked to spend the European equivalent of €200 to attend, why should I have to change my behavior and sit and act like I'm some freaking Norwegian at the match?

Good luck telling those Brazilians in 2014 to dress in more formal clothing and to not bang drums and whistle at matches.
I don't have a problem with them doing it. Like you say they pay 200 euros to attend the game, they can do whatever the fuck they want for all I care. I'm not even particularly bothered by it, but I can see where some are coming from if they say it kills fan atmosphere..

I think it s the TV viewers that are complaining the most. Everyone one is doing it at the stadium, so obviously they aren't bothered, otherwise you would see the masses moving away from it.

"Unless they are threatened to be robbed if they dont blow" :D

Yes, but don't you think it's different for you, yamensbs? You're used to huge masses of people making stupid sounds at the same time.
