Too bad the man denied the national team, ones again..

Some conflict between Lagerbäck and as everyone knows him and Freddie (Swedens NT captain) doesn't get along. I hate that he has to punish the whole nation for that.

Anyways, I hope he wins it sometime. I don't think he will, but I hope so. I think he will be considered top10 for the rest of his career but there is always someone that outshines him, even if it's just a little, in the world.

Seems like he probably will stay out of the NT as long as Lagerbäck is coach.

I think this is one of the reasons he is pissed off:
(Performed by Lagerbäck, Hedman, Peppe and Lagrell, showed on the yearly Swedish football gala. Refering to Zlatan saying no to the NT in 2006)

If Lippi says he desreves Golden Ball than he deserves, even I must agree C. Ronaldo is still my top candidate. But if Ibra continue to put displays like he is putting now he is not far from the Golden Ball :agree:

As much as I personally would want Zlatan on the team I can't help to feel that his decision isn't uncalled for. Ljungberg has been dissing friendly games for a decade by faking injuries, Zlatan is just honest (even though he's not saying anything). Now, if he won't be back for the Euro qualifiers, I also will want to start questioning his behaviour but for now I'll leave it at that.

As for "punishing the whole nation", it is not unjustified, even though your way of putting it is a bit harsh. It's no secret the average Swedish football fan is a racist bigott (have a look at some Swedish sports forums), and plus media ridiculing Ibrahimovic saying we don't want him back after we beat Spain 2-0 at home. :disagree:
My hatred towards Aftonbladet is beyond words.

Come on, Cannavaro has just been awarded this 2 months ago, why not wait until june and after before this becomes an issue
Swag did hit the nail on the head though by saying no serieA player should be even considered seriously cos of the way the season has panned out
Unless Inter win the Cl.
Will someone please give Lippi a job so he can exercise his brain cells and tactical skills instead of being too lippy(pun intended).
I am still coming to terms with the fact that Adriano was nominated for European footballer of the year last season, then again maybe Lippi was part of that committee as well.
Nobody is in the running to win it at all at this stage as we all know its not what you do at this stage of the season that matters at all

So you're saying that Zlatan won't accompany the Swedish NT to Cairo ?

bummer..
Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not interested in resuming his international career with Sweden following his exclusion from the squad in September.

The former Juventus star has not appeared since he was punished and sent home after the Euro 2008 qualifier against Latvia for returning late to the team hotel.

Ibra then refused to respond to the call-up for the matches with Spain and Iceland, in protest for his punishment which he did not consider fair.

Coach Lars Lagerback seemed keen on repairing the rift and stated that the player would be available for the next Euro qualifiers.

However, he did not include him in his latest squad for the upcoming friendly with Egypt, after speaking with the striker himself.

According to the latest reports, Ibrahimovic confirmed to the tactician that he is not interested in returning to the team.

“I am not here to convince anyone if he isn’t 100 per cent sure that he would be happy to play,” said Lagerback. “However, the door is still open to him…”

Sweden, who are the current leaders of Euro 2008 Group F with 12 points, will visit Northern Ireland on March 28.

Well the racist part is true. I bet Sweden is top 5 when it comes to racism, just that the avarage Swede is so god damn self-conscious of saying anything remotely taboo every issue is kept in the dark. You have to agree that Zlatan is Swedens most interesting role-model for both young Swedes and immegrants. I like to think that he is fighting the racism just by doing good on the pitch, which makes me sader when he refuses to play on OUR pitch.

Perhaps I exaggerate a bit. But I think he is important to Sweden, in many ways.
