    VMPlayer is free, but VMserver is not...but you get something like 4 month trial period...then just provide another email for another serial...etc
    sez who?
    All you need is to register and you get your serial and that's it..

    You'd need a different serial for everytime you register a new installation, but there's no renewal or anything ;)

    Well its the 26th in India, but not everywhere in the world....

    anyways I am already on Edgy right now, had some issues, but can't be totally related to edgy as much as wrong configuration of my partitions and GRUB....the only issue now, ironically is that VMware is not working:D:D
    Ramsi, you updated to Edgy, right? Means that your kernel is now changed.. You'd need to run this command:

    Code:
    sudo /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl

    Did that man, I reckon I need to install new kernel headers, which I did also...still not working:confused:

    Tor/privoxy is not working either...but not really worried about them...Ill give them proper attention when I have time...if you are aware of any quick fixes then be my guest:D

    Ahh it feels nice to know that I'll be installing an extremely fresh release :) Though it would've been nice to save myself a blank CD by knowing about the imminent release :wallbang:

    Vlatko, can I ask you something completely off-topic? I believe I wasn't very active in the forums at the time you registered, so I don't know much about your background. I couldn't help but notice, though, that your English is perfect.

    Is there something more lurking beneath your Location information, or are you an exception to the rule that people who aren't from English-speaking or everyone-here-can-speak English countries show at least a handful of signs that English isn't their first language.

    I hope I don't come across as a bigot, and that you're not offended by my question... (and if you've ever been to Korea and heard the standard of the English here you'll understand :D)

    offended? see me blush. :oops:

    nope, no secret behind my location at all, everything in my profile is true. born in Sarajevo, living in Zagreb since '91.
    as for my english, i wouldn't say it's perfect but i guess it's good, had an A throughout school. :D i wouldn't say i'm a exception to that rule, as i know quite a few people from this area that speak english very well, even better than me. but i guess it's really good when you take in consideration the fact i don't have a chance to use it anywhere except on the internet, and i know some folks whos grammar is worse than mine and they live in a english speaking country.

    thanks for the compliment though, your english is great as well. :toast: and nope, never been to korea.

    Hrmm ok, I'll check that out.

    what programs would you recommend for the following?

    * music player (I currently use Winamp)
    * vid\media player (do you still swear by MPlayer?)
    * bittorrent client
    * cd/dvd burner
    * FTP client
    * IM client
    * eye candy like desktop widgets that I'll inevitably remove after a couple of days when I realise they're not worth the memory

    btw I figured out the posting thing: it's alt+shift+s (which is really retarded)
    Music player: Don't ever think of using anything but amaroK
    Video player: mplayer or VLC, but I prefer mplayer as of lately
    Bittorrent: KTorrent is simple or you can use Azureus
    CD/DVD burner: K3B
    FTP client: ftpd
    IM client: Kopete

    I don't use eye candy

    Is Kubuntu Edgy out yet? Who can give me a fast help in updating :lazy:

    Ok, for kubuntu users (not that there are many)

    Upgrading from 6.06 LTS

    Users of Kubuntu 6.06 LTS can upgrade to 6.10 over the internet by following these instructions:

    * NOTE: This procedure upgrades your system over the Internet, which requires a large download of several hundred megabytes.
    * In Konqueror go to /etc/apt, right click on sources.list and choose Actions -> Edit as Root
    * Change all instances of dapper to edgy
    * Launch a console with KMenu -> System -> Konsole
    * In the console run: sudo apt-get update
    * In the console run: sudo apt-get dist-upgrade and follow the prompts to upgrade
    * In the console run: sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop python-qt3 python-kde3 ubuntu-minimal and follow the prompts to install
    * Reboot your computer

    If you have a Kubuntu 6.10 CD, put it in the drive, and run apt-cdrom from the command line. Then follow the instructions above.

    I guess more than anything, the thing I'm most impressed with is that you've grasped the rules to a level where you know when it's ok to break them. Correct grammar is much easier to pull off than constructing grammatically-not-pleasing-to-the-purist-but-much-more-characteristic-of-a-native-speaker sentences like "I guess it's good, had an A through school."

    I don't know if the above paragraph made any sense, but I hope someone understands my point.

    *oops, look where we are... back on topic!* :wallbang:
