Gaddafi in Milan takeover? Friday 4 September, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As calls for his exit continue to mount, Silvio Berlusconi is reportedly ready to sell Milan to Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

It would not be the first time that Gaddafi has invested in Italian football, as his son Al-Saadi played for Perugia and held a minority shareholder’s stake in Juventus.

It’s believed the club would be available for around £400m, so an outright takeover would be tricky and also potentially damaging.

For that reason, the reports in La Repubblica suggest Gaddafi would at first invest in the side and then slowly buy up more and more stock.

President Berlusconi is the subject of numerous protests from fans about the transfer policy and future of the club following the 4-0 defeat to Inter.

As Italian Prime Minister as well as a media and business magnate, Berlusconi has had fewer funds to contribute to the football side of his empire, which culminated in Kaka’s £56m sale to Real Madrid.

Supporters are eager for new investors and it’s reported in La Repubblica today that man could well be Colonel Gaddafi.

Already in the news for the controversial celebrations that greeted freed Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, this week Gaddafi held his own festival that saw only Berlusconi attend among the major western political leaders.

Geddaffi being Milan's sugar daddy :touched:

But it would be odd as Gaddaffi perviously said that he doesn't understand football. He found it weird that 22 people were playing and thousands just watching :D

Libya's Col. Moammar Khadafy has a beef with Switzerland and plans to ask the United Nations to abolish the tiny Alpine home of milk chocolate, cuckoo clocks and yodeling.

According to Swiss minister Christa Markwalder, Khadafy will demand that Switzerland be wiped off the map when he comes to New York Sept. 23. He apparently wants the country to be dismembered and the land parceled out among neighbouring France, Germany and Italy.

The Libya-Swiss kerfuffle began a year ago, when Khadafy's youngest son, Hannibal Khadafy, and his pregnant wife were arrested in a Geneva luxury hotel for beating two servants with a belt and a coat-hanger.

Hannibal Khadafy had previously been busted in both France and Italy for beating a woman and fighting a cop, and once for driving drunk down Paris' Champs Elysee at 90 mph - the wrong way.

Libya retaliated with fury, recalling some diplomats, suspending visas for Swiss citizens, withdrawing funds from Swiss banks, shuttering the Tripoli office of Nestle and threatening to cut off oil deliveries to Switzerland.

Two Swiss businessmen were barred from leaving the country until Libya received an apology for Hannibal's arrest.

Two weeks ago, Swiss President Hans-Rudolf Merz sought to win their release after a year by traveling to Triploi to apologize for the arrest.

Libya promised to let the hostages go by Sept. 1 - but reneged. Now Merz is fending off calls for his resignation.

Tamoil can sponsor a new kit finally. And AC Milan will have ready access to gasoline so that Leonardo can soak and set fire to himself on the pitch like a flare at a derby.
