Forget the NT, he's a boss for Juve. Going through a rough patch, that's all. And he never was a ball player, so now that he's getting all this time on the ball and has to make so much passes, it's gonna show.

Btw, what top defenders are there nowadays anyway? Thiago Silva, that's it?

No need to diss on Chiellini. when it comes to defending there's not many better players than him. Going through some rough form and he may be inconsistent but on form he's one of the best and always delivers on big games.

Watch Vidic's mistake against Shaktar. Tell me he's horrible too.
And T. Saliva's in either round 1 or 2 in the CL.

Chiellini is perfectly fine. Bonucci is probably the most overrated player on this forum along with Marchisio. He's always been an average defender with above average long range passing ability. Unfortunately, however, he has always been shaky with the ball under pressure. And since this isn't the 1970's, nobody gives a damn about offensive sweepers anyway.

Bonucci just isn't reliable. I like him and his unique quality that he brings to the team with his distribution, but 5 games without a fatal error would probably be a career best streak for Leo. I'm not giving up hope though, that he can get that sorted one day.

To be fair with the guy, he had a good streak of games without mistakes. But the thing is... i just dont trust his qualities as a defender..... and everytime i see how clumsy he is... or how he does his trademark and stupid "reverse tackle" , I remember how lacking his defensive skills are.

Bonucci in one-on-ones is a recipe for disaster.

Hopefully the competition from Ogbonna will drive him to nut out his weaknesses and perform to a consistent level like Barza. Hopefully that doesn't make him crack under the pressure.

So many players are inconsistent/don't play to potential when there is no genuine fight for their spot in the team. I think Ogbonna will bring that and make us a better team.

Shit period right now, though.

Yeah, everybody knows Bonucci can hit long balls. But when Pirlo is in midfield, it shouldn't matter. So then everybody sits back and the opposition presses against Pirlo so the mastermind Bonucci can field the ball under pressure and blast it forward to an awaiting defense. Sure, he has hit a few great long balls that ended up as goals in his day. But then we end up using Bonucci more than we should just because there is nowhere else for the ball to go. It's simply a system that is not useful in Europe.

^ Bonucci's long balls are used as compensation for our overall attacking ineptness and lack of movement.

Until we fix that, I think we'll continue to see them.

Last season it looked like his defensive mistakes were a thing of the past and he was finally fulfilling his potential. His display against Gala was a throwback to his first season at Juve.

Chiellini is a classic CB that's why he should play in 4 man defense. He shouldn't be allowed to make the game like he's doing it right now. His job is to win headers, make tackles and eventually go to opponent's box when we have a corner. If he has the ball just pass it to the nearest player or kick it away forward to give our team a chance of regrouping.

Bonucci is a nice guy I like him but his blunders never come in the right time I guess. He's holding us from changing the formation to 4 man back line which we should try now IMO. The 3 man defense doesn't work right now. We concede way too many goals. It's worth trying something new.

IMO our biggest issue is playing Pirlo and Bonucci at the same time. Both need cover which is not good.
