The way this guy has developed can only be described as spectacular. I think it was on FI where I read an article comparing Ranocchia and Bonucci and their journeys after leaving Bari. Ranocchia was believed to be the best of the two. Bonucci has gone from an accident waiting to happen to now one of the finest defenders in Europe. What a transformation. And he's a great vocal leader as well, very excited to see what he has become now. He's still a bit too error-prone. If he can remove those mistakes I'll rate him in that Boateng/Thiago Silva/Ramos range. These last two months haven't been his best, but he'll bounce back. Great player with a very strong mentality suited for this club.

Boateng, Thiago Silva, and Ramos are your ideal centerbacks? Those have to be three of the most overrated players ever. Boateng is imo the best of the three that you named but I still would take Bonucci over him.

Naaah, those 3 are a level above bonucci. As I said, if bonucci stops making those mistakes from time to time he absolutely belongs up there.

Chiellini was way too clumsy last season to be considered better than ramos. Giorgio is a beast but Ramos is much better with the ball, he's a legit goal threat and the raw athletisism of ramos is through the roof.

I love how you criticize Chiellini for mental errors, and then praise Ramos in the next sentence.

I don't care about a defenders dribbling skills, nor do I care about his goal scoring abilities.

Ramos is one of the most error prone CBs and I dont give two cents for his ability to score an odd header now and then. Pure defensively Chiello is among the best CBs in Europe. Bonucci as well. Ramos was great at one point as fullback, but ever since he was shifted to the middle he has been an accident waiting to happen. The guy has no positional awareness.

You're missing the point Sir. As a pure defender, a tackler, Chiellini is better than Silva, Boateng and Ramos combined. In 2016 the role of a defender is much more than defensive duels. I'll be honest, i absolutely do not trust chiellini with the ball against Bayern. One mistake and robben will expose that. Ball control isn't about dribbling, you're basically the second last line in front of the goal after the keeper. You have to have the ability to play yourself out of high pressure against world class teams. Ramos is very good at that. And being so athletic, he can afford to make more mistakes cause he's very fast and a great tackler too.

Last season, Chiellini was not up to his usual standard. Ramos was way better. This season? Look at our start, both chiellini and Leonardo were disappointing. Ramos has great flaws himself but at this moment judging from last year and the season so far i rate him above chiellini.

Ramos is a very good defender. Speaking in defending terms alone, Chiellini is better, but a defender these days is not rated just by his defensive abilities. Chiellini for example has a a lot of time with the ball here and usually starts possession or even attacks, which is where his deficiencies show.

Ramos is much better as RB and one of the most overrated CB's. The amount of errors he makes is baffling.
Chiellini makes a lot of errors too.

I don't rate either of Ramos nor Chiellini among the very very best, for me those are Boateng & Godin. If we're going by the past two years, Bonucci has been better too, about Thiago Silva I can't really say anything tbh, barely watch PSG or Brazil.
