If Bonucci improves to a fully mature player this year than we might be witnessing one of the best defenders around , with his technical abilitty he already is a top defender , he deserves the praise Agnelli gave him and hopefully he will lead our backline this year and get us as far as possible in Europe.

Its not like Vidal is holding the midfield.

Bonucci was good when the gaping hole called pirlo was in front.
He'll now have Marchisio.

Bonucci will be fine and perhaps improve even

i like leo, but with vidal out he will suffer and i dont see him replicating his perfromance
Think it's a bit early to go making comments like that.

The centre-halves will have Marchisio in front of them instead of Pirlo, which should make their life a bit easier.

It is generally going to be interesting to see how Juve collectively defend next season, given the midfield is going to have quite different characteristics to last season's midfield.

Depends how you look at it , Marchisio does defend better than Pirlo but theyr 'distance run' was similar and it happens that Marchisio doesn't regularly score Free Kicks and neither is he a threat at corners which doesnt make him a threat to goal from the deep-lying playmaker role which covers the same Pirlo did (stayin there all the time) , Marchisio is a guy who wants to go for glory and that will push him into a more advanced role during games (a box to box style) times in which Bonucci will not be better covered than he was before , but thats where Bonucci comes up , there are huge chances he will confirm he is the best at what he does , therefor there are many ways to look at it.

I stick to my oppinion that he will be one of the outstanding performers next season , he can improve no matter who covers him.

He was good for most of the season without vIdal, and then continued doing ok even with vidal in shid form.

And this is coming from a bonucci hater

No doubt about that. It's pretty obvious that Bonucci will get pulled out more and have more folks running at him, which will expose him unless we take a more defensive posture.

Even when Vidal was out of form, his work rate and positioning was still there for the most part.

Through the years, the amount of ground Vidal covered it very difficult for teams to get at Lichtsteiner.

He's the one I'd highlight as possibly coming under more pressure.
This is about the only response on this entire page that isnt utter garbage.
Its sad how a team as reputed about its incredible organisation and tactical ability, has such tactically inept fans.

Pirlo, was the gaping hole from the midfield right to the central defence. Marchisio there plugs it.

However, we arent fielding wingers. So our fullback on the right side gets doubled up. So the cm on thats side, Vidal, has to compensate and help defend that side. Wich Vidal did very well. Very very well actually, considering his aggressive pressing game, kinda held the opponent fullback deeper in his own half.

With Khedira, you get a replacement thats far less aggressive. So naturally Licht has more focus. However he's quite good defensively when he is tactically well positionned, so Allegri has his work cut out. But the opponent will be able to press the fullback much higher then when Vidal was here, thats pretty clear.

Tomorrow on tuz : how the abscence of Tevez puts more pressure on Buffon.
