The defense becomes vulnerable whenever we're without one of the usual trio. It shows how important the unit is compared to individual quality of the defenders. But the vulnerability becomes way too obvious when the missing player is Barzagli.

No one is stronger than him on the ball from our backs, his passing is very good. But then when it comes to defending or emergency situations, oh mah lawd! He is epi-bad at times!

You always see Barza or Chiello rushing to the rescue. If he wasn't back there, we'd find it much harder to build from the back. Chiellini, Barzagli and Ogbonna are no where near him when it comes to passing the ball around. As an example, Barza gave the ball away unnecessarily a number of times in last night's match.
