If there's some indication that Ranocchia has or will recover fully, he's a much better option than Bonucci and maybe even cheaper because of the injury. Seriously speaking it would be gamble to sign Ranocchia but when both him and Bonucci were playing it was mostly Ranocchia shining + he's much more fitted to partner Chiellini.
