Goal.com Exclusive: Lazio? 99% Yes, Says Le Guen's Agent
6/8/2005 5:10:00 PM

Goal.com Italy had an exclusive chat with the agent of Paul Le Guen, the man who is being indicated as very close to taking over the Lazio coaching job.
”There is a 99% chance that Le Guen joins Lazio, but that 1% is left. Like when as kids, we used to say that it was almost done with a girl,” Frederic Guerra told Goal.com’s Alberto Masu.

“He wants guarantees on the budget he has at his disposal to make the new team. Its clear he would never accept the Lazio job to fight to avoid relegation,” he added.

Guerra also confirmed that the coach that won three consecutive titles with Lyon is wanted by a flurry of other teams in Europe.

“He said no to Benfica, but has many other offers: from Germany, to England, to Greece, to Turkey. But the Italian league has a particular fascination to it, that could make him prefer Lazio over the other options,” he said.

This would be great news for Lazio and Serie A if Le Guen indeed moves to Rome, but again the "if" has to deal with their ability, or inability, to make signings with their fairly limited budget. And as his agent says, the "99% done with a girl" only to not get her is fairly common in reality. :frown:

Don't say that just because you detest your city rivals, Nicole. If Le Guen is a good manager he should be able to make-do with limited resources compared to other clubs. It will surely be a test to say the least.

Didnt you know its going out of style soon, plus it sounds so much better and more dramatic then just a plain a simple "ruined".

Good decision. I hope teams such as Lazio and Roma play well next season, for the sake of Italian football. Much more fun than only 3 teams in the top.

    ..

This should be Interesting. I wonder who would he purchase for his team..
Most certainly a couple French players, perhaps some from his former Lyon side. But I think it will be a safe bet he will try to bring some of the better players from Ligue 1 with him to Rome..

    Le Guen rejects Lazio offer
    Thursday 9 June, 2005
Delio Rossi is in pole position to land the Lazio job after Paul Le Guen rejected the capital club’s offer.

Biancocelesti President Claudio Lotito was hoping to unveil the Frenchman (pictured) as his new Coach on Monday.

But Le Guen’s agent has this evening revealed that the former Lyon tactician will not be joining the Stadio Olimpico outfit.

"My client will not be coming to Coach Lazio and that is his final decision," stated Federic Guerra.

"Le Guen informed Lazio chief Claudio Lotito of his decision earlier today."

Rossi, who just failed to keep Atalanta in the top flight this term, will now probably replace Giuseppe Papadopulo in Rome.

It's always bad mojo to announce stuff like that. I remember Interisti getting really excited about signing Chivu last year, back then someone said 99% too and look what happened.

No one can succed with Lazio? I hope you mean this as they are broke poor right now and not because you hate Lazio.

Cause I mean, Roma have Totti, Cassano and a bunch of other players, Lazio have no one, and yet, the difference is very little.
