Lampard would earn more than Gigi if he were to come. This move is borderline insanity. I think Lampard is a very good player but at these demands, screw him.

This is the world's worst rumor and everytime Juve are linked to Fat Frank I almost have a heart attack. Who needs an over the hill fat guy on our team? He's a dirty player who doesn't have the skill he had in his prime to back it up. Lets not live in the past. The only person on Chelsea I wouldn't mind at Juve is Drogba and really the only Englishman would be Gerrard but, that definitely will not be happening.

I couldn't agree less, Lamps won't add that lustre that we're missing in the midfield, 7m pounds or less. He's all grit and shots. We need something better, someone that can make that team run and play fine football, "the next Zidane" or something, am tired of settling for less, and then when they dont perform, we want to throw them out the back door. If we can't get VDV or Diego, then lets stick with what we have, (pray Camoranesi is always healthy, and when Giovinco comes in January we hope he can work wonders), and pls lets get Huntelaar before T-rez gets injured, cos if he does, we're doomed.

I would prefer a more Euro player such as Van Der Vaart or Diego rather than Lampard, as he has too much of an ego, and asks for too much cash. Can't Secco just tell him: "I know you like Lampard, but we can't afford him."

I would. Though his wage should at max equal to what Gigi makes (or less)

I'm sure most people that say he sucks will change their minds once he starts scoring 20 goals a season.

even buffon's wage would be too much for a newcomer in the italian league. you just can't risk this. look at shevchenko and ballack at chelsea. rich boys

We're not talking about just a new comer, we're talking about one of the best and most consistent player in his position

on a general note if we won't pay top bucks for player salaries then we can pretty much forget about signing WC players. you don't think Diego or VDV will ask for the same? (or similar high wages)

They will just go to Madrid or Inter or Liverpool or ManU or other big clubs who won't hesistate a second to offer them the money.

Edit: on you can't just point to those 2 players as en example of failure. For every Sheva there is a RVN, an Ibra..etc. And for Every Ballack there is a Ronaldinho, a Zidane, and so on.

Thats right. If you want a world class player, you'd need to be ready with the financial side of things.VDV,Diego etc will demand high wages.I guess the one player who might not demand such sky high wages would be Hamsik.Which only adds to one of the reasons why the board should make all efforts to sign him.

i usually agree with your points but on this one i think i need to disagree!
he would be very risky, how many english players have moved to a foreign league and been a big sucess?when was the last time Lampard played well for England? i think he is a good player for Chelsea where the team is built for him, but he never does it for england and serie a is very different from the EPL. He may be a good signing but he most definatly a big big risk!

we can still play big bucks for players but Lampard is wanting over £90,000 a week, and for a somewhat risky player who is nearly 30, this is crazy! im not against signing lampard but only at the right price! we have a good spirit at juve and someone coming straight in and earning more than the best goalkeeper in the world could upset this balance.

ibra had a wage of nothing when he arrived, RVN gets payed by Real Madrid (no comment). getting a player from a foreign country to italy for a sky high wage is not juve style. didn't vieira disappoint at juve (call me blind but with blasi we were no worse team) ? i definitely wouldn't spend it on a 29yo cm.

I've love to see Lampard in the black and white... but it seems wrong for him to demand so much more than Buffon, Trezeguet, Nedved, Del Piero and Camoranesi. Four of the Five are World Cup winners, and all have exquisite trophy cases. Granted, Lampard has a lot to be proud of too, but no more than these guys.

I would say the de facto salary cap is whatever the highest paid of those five (Buffon) makes, which is (correct me if I'm wrong) €5m or £3.6m per year.

£4.6m would put Lampard with Totti and Kaka. In fact, if my numbers are right... he would only be below Kaka if that 5yr/€40m extension rumor is true. If he continues to make €6m, Lampard would be the highest paid player in Serie A! Unthinkable.

Kaka: £5.77m/€8m
Lampard: £4.6m/€6.38m
Totti: £3.96m/€5.46m
Buffon: £3.6m/€5m

Doesn't seem right. Juventus is correct, 4m pounds is a stretch, let alone 4.6m.
