Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco has rubbished rumours that his recent trip to England was part of a bid to lure Frank Lampard to Turin.
“We didn’t come to London for him,” he told Sky Sport Italia ahead of the Bianconeri’s clash against Triestina last night. “He doesn’t score many goals!”:D
Secco travelled to London last week with Juve’s transfer guru Roberto Bettega where the pair were pictured in a restaurant with Lampard’s agent Steve Kutner, prompting speculation that the Old Lady would make a summer swoop for the Chelsea star.
However, the England midfielder has denied any interest in relocating to Italy and Secco was quick to point out that his targets lie elsewhere.
“The truth is that we made the trip to talk business with several English clubs. After Lampard’s statement yesterday it’s clear that his future lies in England anyway,” he continued.
It is likely that the purpose of Secco’s visit was to discuss the sale of several squad members who will be surplus to requirements should the Old Lady make an expected return to the top flight, but fresh faces are expected to arrive in the summer.
“The budget of £72m will be allocated to various projects, but I don’t know how much will be used in the transfer market,” Secco explained.
“We’ve done a very thorough scouting job this year and watched an enormous number of matches from all over the world to choose the right players for the future.”

I used to think that and to some extent i still agee with that opinion.

But his hard work in the chelsea jersey must be respected. He is consistant and does everything a cmf should do.

No he isn the best at tacling but i closes down well and tracks back, important aspects in defending as a Central midfielder.

He imho isnt actually that good at set plays and should spend more time in the box as opposed to deep playing it up to drog as imho he has a poachers instinct.

You cannot argue with the amount of goals he score either.

as u said nobody can argue with his work rate and goals(even though many r deflections)

but the english game suits him with the much more spaces on the field than serie A.Also i am really skeptical about his passing game, especially this season.

I feel more and more like Lampard is the choke master. All the games for England, the big games for Chelsea were they are not dominating. Perhaps he just need the wind in his back or something but I wouldn't want him in Juve for a bigger sum.
