Today marks the 10th anniversary of Atletico appointing Diego Simeone as manager. I think he's underperformed a bit for the last 4 years or so, but nothing can take away what he did in bringing Atletico from a Valencia/Everton level club to among the European elites.

Hmm. I started watching football in the 2010-11 season. Simeone took over the next season. From what I remember Valencia was the undisputed #3 side in Spain, but they were still miles off of El Clasico duo.

But definitely if we look at Benitez's time/the early 00's, Valencia was making some huge accomplishments.
