I just don't understand the criticisms Asamoah receives while Lichtsteiner receives nothing but praise. Asamoah gets destroyed in this thread because he can't "cut inside" or "beat his man". I have literally never seen Lichtsteiner cut inside with the ball and he rarely ever beats his man.

And on top of that, Asamoah has outproduced Lichtsteiner offensively statistically. And still it's Asamoah's thread that is filled with these criticisms.

It would be interesting to see Asamoah's stats after New Year. Once opposition figured out his basic moves, which happened at about that time, his level of performance and contribution with it terribly dropped. He seems very limited and predictable. With his speed he tries to run past opponents but more intelligent players can handle this simply by closing down his left side. In that situation he tries to cut inside and is fairly successful in that. What he lacks are time in runs. Licht for instance is excellent in this department. When we counter attack who is more likely to lead our attacks between those two? Further more Piro's passes, magnificent as they are, those are often directed toward Licht rather than Asamoah. I don't want to sound too critical as he's done great job in defense but that's only half a job if you're WB.

I mean, we can sit here and analyze this and that for hundreds of pages. Does the player cut inside? Does he beat his man? Can he do step-overs? Can he juggle the ball? Can he tie his shoes? ETC.

But when it comes down to it, Asamoah supplied 2 goals and 6 assists last year with a month absence. Lichtsteiner provided 4 goals and only 2 assists.

This is what upsets me. People just flat out IGNORE the productivity of Asamoah because he might look clumsy sometime or might lose the ball here and there.

I mean, the guy had the 3rd most assists on our whole team last year.

asamoah is left footed therefore he can play in the right wing... just like di maria and robben (which are left footed can play on the right wing and cut inside the defender.... if so we can play 4-3-3 comfortably.

He doesnt even cut in on the left, why would we put him on the right and he isnt a winger
he dosen't cut in on the left because he plays on the left. if he plays on the right he will cut in on the left just like hw robben did last year. he is a not a winger but we could convert him as we don't have a player of robben's caliber in our squad. the only plays i can see on that side is quags/pepe/giovinco but they won't be able to cut the defender on as they all are right footed.

this squds can compete in the champions league if conte wakes up and tries. also, by changing tactics, other teams will not be able to study our games because we would use a 3-5-2 in serie a. so we get a bigger advantage.
