I see, still wondering aloud?

Formations have an impact on how we use spaces, make a difference in how the players are supposed to move and therefore, it changes the overall play. Not saying one formation is better than the other, but against minnows we should have more options going forward, because otherwise our play is too congested.
So why is it that we've only encountered this problem of beating minnows with the 3-5-2 during this particular stretch? And why have we been able to beat them before?

LOL. That's our problem, not enough "switching mid play".
I'm not talking about switching the entire formation, I'm talking about the front 3 overlapping and switching during game play, which happens quite frequently in most professional matches.

Lately it's been a problem, it's obvious. I don't know if it's due to the lost of some players due to injury or the general loss of hunger in our play. We do play at a much higher tempo in 4-3-3, it could help.

The way I see it, we should use the 4-3-3 against minnows, and 3-5-2 against worthy opponents.

Do you believe tempo was a problem against Genoa?

Considering they are worlds best team.(based on the last couple of years) Then yes, it's a awful defence they have. It just never gets disputed.

So by moving to 4-3-3 we will give up 0 shots a game or Buffon will not make any mistakes, or De Ceglie will learn how to defend?
I feel sorry for you that you think that the only reason we have dropped points is because of De Ceglie and Buffon. I really have no need to discuss further with you. I just want you to see how much we are missing before conceding.

I was speaking about offensive options - it's also about how you use them.

One player more in the attacking third would have helped us, having the midfield less congested would have too.
