Cruyff Tell Barcelona To Sign Huntelaar
Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff has suggested that the club move for Ajax starlet Klaus Jan Huntelaar.
Cruyff made the reccomendation speaking on RAC 1 last evening, advising president Joan Laporta to sign the youngster, whom he has watched in action quite a few times.
Huntelaar, currently at Ajax, being coached by Rijkaard's former assistant Henk Ten Cate, has been the best striker in the Netherlands for two seasons now.
He became Dutch football's most expensive teenage signing in 2000, when he moved from De Graafschap to PSV at the age of 17.
He has scored 70 goals over the last two seasons, being the highest scorer in the country on both occasions, and by some distance. The tally also eclipses the record held by Ruud van Nistelrooy at a similar stage last season.
The most commentable aspect, perhaps, is that he has played with a different team each of the last five seasons, but has not let it affect him.
Barcelona have been monitoring him, as have some of Europe's other top clubs, such as Arsenal and Juventus.
At 23, and after backing his miraculous form last season with another stunning run this time around, many believe he is ready for a move to a bigger stage.
