For what it's worth the English press has been pretty confident for some time that he will go to ManU or Arsenal - which would seem to agree more with this report..

As many people are saying on the forum though we are getting linked with any player who can walk or crawl right now. We will just have to wait in line like all the other fans and see who he ends up with..

The calciomercato article only mentions a general trend of Dutch players joining the EPL off late.We are the only club that has been linked with a strong 15m accepted deal rumour. So i guess we're still in first position to sign him,or alteast whats what i hope.

I have a friend who supports Manchester United. When i told her Juventus were leading the race for Huntelaar, she was pretty surprised as she thought that he was Manchester bound.Maybe the people on Manchester United and Arsenal forums are getting exicted about getting Huntelaar the same way we are:p

just think of it this way, in the summer we are going to be the big fish in the transfer market, as everyone thinks that we could pay high to build a new team. i seems that our managment are working hard for a solid year and i think they already reached an agreement with several clubs and players. and it says that Ajax is a rich club yes but Ajax is a feeder they always sell player so i think no matter what they'll sell.

From Channel4 - repeat of Muccioli's translation but the tone sounds to me like the agent is just trying to drive up the price, not only on Hunt but Mavuba too..

Looks like we will have to wait 'til June at least anyways..

Juventus face Prem threat Thursday 29 March, 2007

The agent of Klaas Huntelaar and Rio Mavuba has warned Juventus that they’ll have to beat competition from England to sign the duo.

The Serie B leaders have been linked with both players, but representative Vincenzo Morabito has underlined how difficult it will be for the Old Lady to successfully swoop.

Huntelaar is the latest Dutch striking sensation who is being talked about as a possible successor to David Trezeguet in Turin.

“He is a player who scores a lot of goals and therefore he is liked by many clubs,” Morabito noted. “Juventus’ interest? I don’t think they have made a firm decision yet.

“However, it will also depend on the price. It will take more than £11m and Ajax know that he is a player who they can cash in on, especially in the English market.

“That is a League which can spend right now. Nevertheless, we probably won’t know his destiny until the start of June. He could even stay at Ajax.”

Juve boss Didier Deschamps has also requested a new midfielder and the Bordeaux man is understood to be an option.

However, Morabito again revealed that two Premiership giants are also massive admirers of French international Mavuba.

“We are aware of Juve’s interest, but we don’t have any confirmation of it,” he added. “However, there is something serious from sides like Chelsea and Manchester United.

“He’s a good player and the fact that he started in France’s 1-0 win over Austria last night is significant.”
