Never seen him but I am excited! Based on Youtube he may need a period of acclimation as the french league is like PL in the 90s. Looks like his physicality is one of is strengths so he will need to learn how to utilize it in Italy without getting fouled. He reminds me of Vidal, I hope he can add that in his repertoire too (arriving in the box) if he doesn't already have it. Again, never see him so I really don't know what to expect. But people are excited so I am a happy and excited sheep!

Hoping he doesn't turn out to be a Weah-plus.

He is very very far from a Weah. He is extremely press resistant and incredibly skilled with the ball, progress possession with dynamic runs and gets out of closed spaces with ease. Is physical enough in style to turn into an all around CM. Season before last he was more defensive, but is as his best as a marauding b2b nr 8.

Everyone look at this, does this look like a player we will need to worry about much?

Yes he is bit raw end product wise and at times decision making. But he is actually a good passer, so talented on the ball, there's a reason they were demanding 60m for him last summer.

one is rabiot, the other is thuram. the goals and aerials give it away, otherwise could you tell which one is which without checking?

if he's not a measurable downgrade on rabiot's performances while saving on costs, and he actually tries to improve instead of only trying when his contract expires, it's a good transfer. i'd even take a sideways step from rabiot when it comes to most metrics. just getting rid of the attitude of veronique and his baby boy will be worth it.

So which one is which? My guess is that the second one is Thuram. Bottom line is that Thuram is better with the ball while Rabiot is stronger in the tackle and superior in the air.

Thuram seems to fit Motta’s style better

im also tired of rabiot's attidude. shows up for one game where he dominates then just casually jogs the next 5 games doing nothing.

i'd rather have a player who is decent 38 matches per season than one who is great 5 matches and fucks around the other 33

yes, that's thuram. rabiot scored a lot lately for a midfielder, and he's very good in aerial duels (and in duels in general), that's his main skill. otherwise thuram looks like a very similar player, hopefully with much better attitude and consistency.

you are probably the most knowledgeable member in here football wise.

Do you see Thuram as the b2b next to Luiz in a 4231 assuming motta puts yildiz on the leftwing?

Was reading he's going to the Olympics with France and won't be available to train with the team until just before the season starts.

Hope that doesn't slow down his integration with the team and makes him take longer to adapt.

Don't tell that to @Lion , he will kill himself.

It's hard to say how Motta will set up, because Thuram is a legit b2b attacking CM, but it depends on if Motta sees Luiz as capable enough defensive to play next to b2b 8 like Thuram. Or if he sees Luiz as such a player and wants a defensive minded player next to Luiz instead of Thuram.

Mind you as the graphs above show, Thuram is all around decent in different tasks like Rabiot, so it might suit him, but he an adventurous player with his runs too so it's tricky.

It all depends on what roles Motta has in mind for the two CM pair, if he is fine with two 8s who are interchangeable in the way they operate, then yeah Luiz and Thuram might work well together. But if he wants a Freuler type who can be more conservative and tactical too (who is besides Locatelli for us? Fagioli more of a playmaking CM like Luiz), then maybe Thuram will be rotation, atleast at first.

For me, the pass completion gave it away.
