Pedulla
From our exclusive on Friday, June 21 to the upcoming turn: KhephrenThuramto Juve, these are the days to close. Regardless of Rabiot, as we have always told, Juve goes further. Thuram only wanted Juve, he will be satisfied. It will earn about 2.5 million per season, but the details related to the bonuses are being refined. And Nice will have a base of 20 million plus another 3-4 million bonuses, some almost impossible to achieve. A very fast chase, from the break-in to the finish line one step. Juve adds Khephren Thuram to Douglas Luiz, but it will hardly end here...

meh fuck it, Thuram is a good player, can still improve. 18 or 25M doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, especially if Rabiot is fucking off here

Agresti is saying the next main signing is Koopmeiners, but we need a few more sales first. If we get him too, we eating good lads.
That’s all nice and well but what about other priorities such as fullbacks or wingers, or will we play only with CM’s?

Jokes aside, would sure be nice if we can top it off with Koop as well because he is a different profile to Douglas Luiz and Thuram, could complement each other well, but in all honesty i wouldn’t waste a whole summer on it and rather start focusing on other more urgent needs.

I’d argue CAM is the most important position for Motta’s setup. He asks a lot from that spot. Theres a reason Koop is the primary target of the entire mercato. Gonna be the most expensive as well, but they have to invest in it. If I had to pick between a CAM like Koop and a CB like Calafiori, or any FB/winger, I’m picking Koop. We also have no internal alternative. Miretti isn’t good enough. Adzic is a serious talent but he’s unproven. Maybe Fagioli, but it seems they want to utilize him elsewhere.

So what happens if Koop doesn’t come? Haven’t seen any rumors about alternatives… also he is not really a pure CAM either, more of a Atalanta system fit, and coming off an injury that got him missing the Euro’s, and Atalanta making absurd transfer fee demands for him, idk but if he is as key to Motta’s system as is suggested then it doesn’t look very promising for us in case we can’t find an agreement.

As you mentioned, internally we probably have Miretti as the only alternative for that role because Fagioli is clearly being molded to a deeper role, plus some NG kids that don’t really fill anyone with confidence.

Vasilije Adzic is the young alternative

There’s still two months to go…obviously we will still need to look at other positions like FB/Winger but honestly, fixing this disgusting midfield of ours takes precedence over everything else imo. We’ve left it to rot for nearly a decade. I’m glad Giuntoli is finally taking some time to remedy it.

I agree, midfield is definitely the main priority, was just thinking that after sealing the Douglas Luiz and Thuram deals you could already say that our midfield doesn’t look too bad when you include Fagioli, Miretti, Locatelli and potentially even Rabiot alongside the new signings, not sure we even have the funds to invest on another €60M midfielder when there are other weaknesses in the squad that require proper investments as well.

Only way i see the Koop deal happening is if Atalanta lowers their price and maybe accepts some counterparts that we are trying to offload, otherwise our only hope might be a Locatelli sell because McKennie’s sell won’t be enough tbh.

I will once again ask... can this midfielder help us control the game? Can he pass forward? Can he hold the ball?
Thuram? He’s an offensive minded mid, good at forward runs with and without the ball. He’s good in the offensive phase. I see his ceiling as a Reijnders.
