So is Douglas Luiz the controller in the midfield then? Bcuz I don't see what good a player with Thuram will do us if we can't string 2-3 passes in a row
That's my concern too. It seems like he had a pretty poor season and still looks very raw to me.

You can see potential and at the rumoured price it is worth the gamble. But it feels like people are getting ahead of themselves in terms of what he can bring immediately.

Hopefully his contact issue last season was behind his form and Motta can put less pressure on the midfield to create. Getting Calafiori would help with this.

Great signing, if a tad expensive at 20m for a dude who's expiring next year. But I think we believe a lot in his future and think of him as a 50-60m midfielder soon and thus you'll pay 20m today to have a 60m level player in a year or two.

Hoping he doesn't turn out to be a Weah-plus.

I read the last season he had different tasks(more defensive) from his manager. Don't know how true this is.

If he plays alongside Luiz, he'll need to be more defensive. Isn't that the whole point of the pivot? Especially with an attacking mid ahead of both of them? Somebody has to drop back or be mindful of defensive duties to some degree.

I can see Luiz is more b2b but he definitely tends to love pushing forwards in attack. Whoever is next to him will need to counteract that by staying back more and being able to pressure and tackle in the midfield.

20M is a lot for an expiring but at this time last year the figure would've been double. Motta is perfect for a developing player. If he hits his ceiling he’ll be worth 50M+. But more importantly this midfield is shaping up

I think Thuram backs up Luiz initially.

i think you guys are overthinking too much the formation motta will play with.

conte used to play a 3-4-3before he came to juve then switched to a 3-5-2.

we need to wait and see what he thinks is best formation for his squad when all signings are done.
