I wouldn't bother associating "didn't sign" with "failed to sign", the media speculate based on rumours or guesses, doesn't mean for one second that we were actually interested, or if a bid was made for most of the players they have mentioned. Look at the Emre Can story for example which is dead or alive from one week to the next, they don't have any real clue. We might have a shortlist of 10 players but we have no idea who we have actually approached.
