I speak most days at work with a car park attendent called Kenny. For an Australian, he has an exceptionally keen understanding of the game, and top notch quality of the now and recent now. Partly, I suppose, because he was playing for Schalke youth team when he was a few years younger, but his efforts were curtailed by a series of injuries, so he returned to Melbourne. He knows of our plight and of our history. And has suffered, more than anyone else, the constant analysis and condemnation of this Juve season, through my eyes and words...Since I read about this Kuranyi business, we have had a daily joke, in which I exit my work building, for a rollie, and pump my fist in the air, as I roar, in a strangely african vicious style, KUNYANI! KUNYANI! KUNYANI!...it amuses him, because he finds my revelling in the my own club's muck, somehow joyful.
He is a Man United supporter, whom I also discussed the Rooney question with, on numerous occasions. Stemming from arguments on here about my assertion that he is the best player in the world presently, and has the talent and tenacity, to be there or thereabouts, for many years to come. He laughs, rather than becomes as irate as myself, when hearing of people suggesting he is not of a world class standard, as do the rest of my english mates back home. Not because he is a United supporter. He is more objective than that. Its because he understands and truly follows football. SO while he will say 'well...at times, yes, the best, especially this season, but at times i would have to say that messi is as good, if not DOING better presently...those two, above all others...stick out in the world game...who can say about torress??? his sporadic form could be because of injuries, but we are talking of the NOW...not then'...
It seems laughable to him that we have fallen so low as to be seriously considering recruiting Kuranyi...but highly plausible. He suggested, that we should sign Gary Neville, to play as our new right winger...
