I think this whole defensive contribution obsession is a bit unhealthy. I don't see attacking players in Elite teams having to constantly track back or assist the defense, and yet they still win titles. You can either attack or defend, so if an attacking players has to track back, you lose some of their attacking input. They can't do both at the same time, and over the course of 90 or 120 minutes, they might get worn out. It's the same thing in basketball; if Elite attacking players a la KD or Lebron had to defend all game, their offensive output would be reduced drastically.
