I remember reading somewhere that in top flight football, the conversion rate is actually around 75%
Which is pathetic. There are ways to take the penalty kick, top corner with power for example, that are almost impossible to save. And if the acrobats in the circus can learn to do all that hard, gay shit without making mistakes, surely a professional player should be able to learn to hit the top corner every time, if he practices.

Decent half, need to get another goal to put it to bed though.

Marchisio and Costa have been good. Superb from Dybala. Disappointing penalty from Higuain but he has being good, when Costa, Dybala and him link up we look dangerous.

He'll be a better choice than Higuain or Dybala. I'm super serial.
Khedira? That German record from penalties surely means he would be good.

We should stick with Dybala though, he is still our best suited. All players miss penalties, he just needs to take another.

For some reason out and out centre-forwards have a bad record on penalties, don't remember Higuain ever being a good taker.

Higuain is mentally stronger than Dybala, but not immune to pressure.
Dybala this year has a lot of phycological pressure due to personal matters and still is very young to handle some things.
It's good that Higgy takes some pressure off him.
Dybala executed and scored the FK, there is fair play among them and so now Higgy had to try, unlike Dybala, Higgy seemed determined to outdo his mistake and will see him trying that fiercily in the second half.
Maybe Pjanic should be our primary PK taker, he is so strong mentally, always focused and determined!
Yep, Pjanoo all the way.

This comment always makes me laugh. Like the amount of money you're paid correlates to being able to score penalties.

They are a science of their own, you vs the keeper. It's a question of technique and bottle. If what you said was true most shoot-outs would end 10-9. Some defenders are good at them, some strikers are terrible at them.

Agree with a previous comment on Higuain, he's an instinctive shooter of the ball. Quite a lot of players have a weakness when it comes to having a lot of time to think.
Bullshit.

They don't practice penalties on a regular basis. Why the fuck do you think the German NT is so good at penalties? Because they train them.

Of course nerves are crucial, but the more you practice, the more confident you feel.

Anyways, Juve was never a team that Telus on penalties, we rarely get them when we need and the negative PR effect they have when we get them and the harmness they do to our forwards when they lose them, almost make me feel uncomfortable when we get one...

This is true. That's why I wasn't kidding when I said that Sturaro is probably a better choice than Higuain or Dybala. Khedira might be a good choice, too. Technique is not important here.

But whoever the penalty takers are, they have to practice a lot, every week, because a penalty or penalties can make or break a season more often then people think.

Back when we had Del Piero I knew every penalty would find the back of the net - The guy probably missed less than 5 penalties during his career and we all know he took lots of penalties...

Higgys last 3 pk has all been pretty poor. Two misses and a an almost save. If you are supposed to be the number 1 pk taker, you better fucking take pk every day in training, bc they can win or lose you titles. I take better pk than higgy, he sucks so much at it

You didn't have to give your post a title.

England NT have practised over and over before every tournament and still suck at them, it makes no difference because there is no pressure situation firing them in on the training ground. It becomes a mental issue when there is a negative trend, which is what Juve and Higuain are in (Lloris should have saved his first pen, then he missed the second). Germany are good because they have bottle and successive shoot out successes.

But of course, maybe we can give him a €1m bonus for each penalty and I'm sure they'll all go in from now on.
