If we were to put Dybala on the wing in Cuadrado's spot, and move Pjanic forward into the AM spot, with either Marchisio-Khedira or Marchisio-Rincon behind them... this formation could be very good. Even better of course with Sandro instead of Asa.
I have to agree with this.

We need to set this formation this way

Good half, it's nice not to be so predictable in our play.

Any problems have been caused by sloppy passing from the back.

As many suggested it isn't a normal 4-2-3-1, but 4-4-1-1 when we don't have the ball.

If Pjaca eventually gets integrated into the team and finds form, having him on the left instead of Mandzu, dependent on opponent could be good. I actually like Mandzu's energy and grinta tracking back. It helps our mid. But I am quite curious to see Pjaca.

Relax, this is only a temporary solution.

Very few games will be this easy for us, Lazio is easily controlled foe.

But I like how we stretch the opponents with this approach, plus the intensity. Can see it used in CL, but Pjanic as AM not CM.

with Alves/Cuadrado and Sandro/Mandzukic, it would get much more solid, but indeed. A cm of Marchisio-Rincon would be more realistic, and the team would turn into a 4-5-1 quite quickly

I'd miss the pjanic-Dybala linkup tho

On the other hand, Madrid did make Khedira - Xabi alonso work, when they were supporting Ronaldo(doesnt run), Ozil(runs a bit), Di Maria (runs less then quads) and Benzema (actually runs)

I agree. He's much more agile and not afraid to dribble past an opponent.
Too bad his dribbling is all about same motion that makes him traps himself in same spot he was before dribbling, in front of an opponent, and he is forced to pass back or cross into opponent.

He is better off making off the ball runs forward.
