this is really key here. it seems he is too afraid to play between the lines and always positions himself in a position to receive the ball where he has palermos midfielders and defenders in front of him instead of slipping in between and receiving the ball there. we need somebody to get into that gap and receive the ball there, because we will not get into the space by dribbling into it from midfield.

Ya the LCM should be doing that in the 3-5-2. But the problem is Pjanic needs a clone of himself to give him that ball in between the lines. Lemina has certain strengths which are very noticeable like speed, strength and tackling but I would play Bonucci at CDM before him lol.
