He's a really good player. But there's only so much he can do. He's not a physical dude or anything so in a game like this he gets shown up. He needs to play in a three man mid otherwise he's just average. idk wtf Giach is doing out there. Why the fuck he's playing is beyond me.
But we have a three man mid. Giacc had a couple of good matches at that spot last season.

According to some people he is a European top class box to box player. He shouldn't play that bad even without Vidal.
Indeed. Just last week people were saying how he doesn't need Vidal or anyone.

    Pogba for Giaccherini
    Vucinic for Giovinco
    and Isla for Caceres

and we win. Otherwise we lose. Our midfield today is too weak, and Giovinco is showing his true level today. I wish we had 4 substitutions Bndtner for Matri would be good too.

Give Genoa credit, most teams who face us just sit and counter. We don't face teams who play such constant intensity, which is to be expected. Couple that with a few changes and a slightly lacklustre approach and that spells trouble.

Football isn't as easy as just getting the personnel right. We could field a dozen different teams and they are all better than what Genoa have on paper, but getting an XI to work instantly is not always easy.

We can't expect to turn up and just win, not when the opposition wants to win so badly.

Genoa should have a lot of credit, or the coach, for understanding our team that well. Put pressure on the midfield and display our defense weaknesses.
